Let’s pop the champagne guys! Our Flow tab feature is now available to every user on PC and mobile devices.

What is the Flow tab?
The Flow tab is a new personalized home for Flow where, on top of your usual Flow, you will also see personalised playlists based on what you listen to and inspired by your favorite artists.

You want to discover new music but still have control over what genre is recommended? You are in a rock mood and your favorites Nirvana and Guns’n Roses would definitely cheer you up? Just select the Flow tab that will float your boat.

How does it work?
Flow is still working as always, just press play and enjoy an endless mix of your favourites and recommendations.

In the mood for something more specific? Swipe right on the Flow Tab and check out the daily recommendations inspired by what you’ve been listing to.

Each Inspired by card has a playlist based on a genre full of tracks we think you’ll enjoy remembering or discovering. You can click on any of the Inspired by cards to take a look on what’s there or just press play and be surprised 🙂

Liked what you hear? You can favourite any of the songs you’ve loved, add all of them to an existing playlist or create a whole playlist with everything to save it for later.

Where to find it?
On deezer.com, it can be found on the homepage. Next to the Flow you’ll find the different Flow tabs.

On your mobile devices, go to My Music and tap on the Flow icon. You will just need to slide from right to left to discover all your Flow suggestions.

is there a desktop app update being rolled out or will it appear in the current version? 🙂

Hopefully the new stations will not repeat the same songs early like Flow does. 😉 But I like the idea, so there are some alternatives to the main Flow now.

Hi Rob, sorry that was my mistake. It's actually not available on the Desktop App yet. I can't tell when it's going to be implemented exactly, yet, but we'll keep you posted 🙂

Hi there 🙂 the tracks/ tabs will be updated daily. So you should hear a lot of new (to you) tracks.
Are the Notifications/Hear This feed still available on mobile now or does this replace that?

Hi there 🙂 Hear this is not available on the app anymore, but still on browser.

On the app the Flow tab in combination with the notifications (My Music --> press the bell next to the gear wheel) replaces Hear this.

In your notifications you will see what your Followers/ users you are following are sharing and also albums recommended by Deezer. 🙂
Is it out for Android?

Hi @brunno

yes, closed your app and then restart it. I had to do it a couple of times but then it was there! 🙂

I just switched from one new Flow that I listened to yesterday to another which should have been inspired by Sting, Ritchie Sambora and others. But the first track was by King Crimson, so I guess it was a leftover from the prog rock Flow yesterday, and Sting is not included in the new Flow, but the rest of the play queue looks OK. Might be a bug related to the first track, and I will have an eye on that in the next days.

Thanks a lot for the report. 🙏🏽 We'll also check on our side. Please keep us posted about this, in case you notice it again. It's really important to receive this kind of feedback so we can improve the feature if needed 🙂

Today I started a Flow list inspired by Alan Parsons, Stretch and The Alan Parsons Project. The first track was by the APP, so it seems the issue yesterday was maybe only a coincidence. But I checked the 40 tracks in the play queue, and there was no Stretch song in there, like yesterday no Sting song. I know these new Flow lists are only "inspired by...", so it is not totally wrong, but I think it would be better to include at least one track by each artist who allegedly inspired the list.
I cannot figure out how to listen to Flow Tab with Sonos. Does anybody know?

Well, finally the update for the android app came through a week or so ago. I'll put my thoughts below.

The change from Notifications to Flow was a real surprise. Initially I was a bit skeptical about it, but exploring it for some time I started to find it really interesting.

However, here are my reservations with regards to Discovering music:
  1. I don't always want to listen to a playlist, so this is seriously limiting. I switch between playlists, artist streams, Flow and albums quite interchangeably.
  2. We've completely lost 'You might like… because you listened to…'. For me this was one of the single biggest features of Hear This, which gave me a great idea why this album had been presented to me. They weren't just latest releases, they could be from any point in time and it was clear why they'd been pushed to me.
  3. New Releases has been buried (as noted in this thread) in a little bell on the My Music page. Why?
  4. To me the flexibility of Hear This was incredible, and could easily have been iterated upon.
I understand that Flow provides the most user data – people are much more likely to favourite/skip/replay when listening to Flow, which in turn provides rich data about listening habits – but to me this demeans the user, and their listening habits. Everyone listens to music in completely different ways; some want a radio experience, others want to listen to high quality versions of their favourite albums, some want to discover the latest releases, some want to delve deeper into their favourite genres. I have the feeling that Deezer has tried to homogenise the listening experience, to the detriment of the listener.

So this isn't just a gripe complaining "You've changed it", it's a disappointed, dedicated long term (5 year) listener.

Bring back album Album and playlist recommendations on Android
First of all, great idea and the discovery flow is really nice! I'd love to see that implemented on the Android Auto interface.

One big request, though: Please add a dislike button to the discovery flow as you had for the regular flow before! It did happen to me that a random artist that has the same name as an artist I like (Europe in this case) plays some horrible song and I don't want to ever hurt my ears listening to that again, but as there isn't a dislike button that song comes back every now and again.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot for the feedback, Pietro! I will definitely pass this on to the team. I can't promise that we will be able to implement this, as the tab are actual playlists and not a random list like Flow. But we'll keep you posted 🙂

I love the new features !
Discover is great !
A few days ago I got a song by destiny child which I loved . I put it on favorites . The day after I got a playlist full in Pop songs . The thing is I'm not into Pop really . The one I have added to favorites is one of a few songs I like . I think Deezer algorithm learning curve should be more strict . It should not created a dedicated "Inspired by" playlist based only on one song ....

BTW , What will happen to the notifications tab ? I will be glad to see more albums recommandations , more than what we have now ,
Thx .
