This is not a drill, everybody! Get ready to say "Ok Google, play What took you so long? by Emma Bunton" because it's finally here and Deezer is now available on Google Home UK.

Here are some basics you need to know:

Who can use it?

You’ll need an active Deezer subscription to use Deezer on Google Home.

How do you link Deezer to Google Home?

First, make sure you have the Google Home app installed on your device.

  1. Start the Google Home app
  2. Go to the Home screen
  3. Touch the three-line menu
  4. Tap on the Music tab
  5. Tap Deezer (which will have a link option)
  6. Log in to Deezer
  7. If you agree, accept the permissions to continue
  8. Confirm

Don't forget to mark Deezer as your default music service after it's been linked.

What voice commands can I use?

You can use all basic Google Home commands like play next, stop, repeat and play some smooth jazz, but also some cool tailored voice commands like:

Play Flow or Play My Flow to start your flow.

I like this song to favorite a track.

I dislike this song while your Flow is playing to keep it from playing again or to remove the playing song from your favorites.

Play my *name of playlist* or Play *name of playlist* to play your playlists.

That's all you need to get started, we know it was a long wait so we hope it was worth it and you enjoy it. Please leave any feedback and questions below 👇

Fantastic News! At last. Can't wait to get home and try it. Would still love to know what the delay was down to if it was possible to say.
There is no music tab in my Google home app just account preferences and under this only Google play music or Spotify available

Hi there, when in the Home app you need to click on the 3 liness in the upper lefthand corner and will find "Music" . It is possible that it's not rolled out to 100% of users in the UK just yet, which will happen today. It's already listed in my Goolge Home App

If you can't see it yet, please check again this afternoon 🙂 Should pop up in the app very soon!
Mine seems fine. Just can’t wait to use it.

Sorry, I gave up waiting and went with paying my money to Google music instead.

I assume this only works with the Master account on a Family subscription? I can't see anyway of selecting a specific profile to use with Google Home.

Well...somebody at Deezer should be getting a hug. Or at least a high five!

I did allow my subscription to lapse but then...ok, I'll admit it Deezer. You got me!

Now, let's all play nicely. You, me and Google Home. Or there will be no ice cream for ANYONE! 😂
Great work - thanks to all at Deezer - worth the wait.

Used this last night and it is so much better then Google play music which I'd had for a few months for my home devices - having flow is brilliant but also the genre/decade based searches I tried were much better e.g. 'play some indie music' - will have more of a go over the weekend

I did notice one thing, I was trying to get to play my favourite tracks playlist but that kept defaulting to flow, only had a quick go though

thanks again to all at deezer

Yes, for the moment it only works with the master account

Hey @Daniel Myers why makes us choose, we'll take the hug and the high five 😛

@Ian Stephenson I've noticed the same on my Google Home but then I realised that when you ask for your favourites it says ok now playing your flow but it is indeed the favourites. I've already raised this with the tech team so they can have a look. If you notice that it really doesn't play your favourites, can you let me know?
@Ana. - thanks for the reply, I'll try that, I'd assumed it had played my flow but maybe it was favourites !

I do find saying 'play the latest album by ' to be a little bit hit or miss, I often struggle to remember latest album name but can remember the artist and use to listen to new albums in my library - if you want an example then try it with Editors

@Ian Stephenson I haven't try the command yet. Will try it out a bit and let you know. Keep reporting any feedback you have 🙂
I thought that it was going to be possible to use the basic (free) DEEZER service on Google Home (as with SPOTIFY) - is that not the case though?
Thank you!

At last.

I was letting my subscription lapse the end of this month as was getting very very tired of waiting. Now I wont!

Hopeless. Doesn't work with Family, so if I link it to my Google Home, people listening at home block me from listening at work. That was well tested and well worth the wait then.

Mind you, the whole way that "Family" works is rubbish. You have to give your account details to someone else, which for any service should be a total no-no.
@Ana. a quick question and feedback

  • when I say 'play some music' what is this playing ? is this flow or favourite tracks or something else ? its a good mix for me and I've been using it a lot
  • I have a JBL link 10 device and I've noticed when I say 'i like this song' it recognises it but then keeps the google lights on and flashing like its still processing the request - any idea what this is ?
thanks

Hey Ian, I double checked here and play my music is flow 🙂

As for the JBL issue, I reported it for you and will let you know if I have any updates about it. Btw, I've also reported the issue you had with the play latest album. If you find anything else isn't working right, let us know as we're keeping track of everything.
Hi, I am a new user to Deezer, signed up for the 3 month trial and currently in my 2nd week. I normally listen to music via the Google Home's dotted around the house and via the Android Auto app in the car.

My issue is related to playing music via Google Home. I tend to just ask Google, play music and away it goes and continually plays music until I tell it to stop. This is my experience with Google Play Music service anyway.

However since switching to Deezer, saying Play Music works as expected (once you've added songs to your flow, otherwise fails) but it stops automatically after a set period of time, I'm guessing around the 2 hour mark, but maybe sooner. I'm running another test now, so will update this topic with my findings.

I like having music running all day while I work at home, and if Deezer isn't able to do that, because it runs a fixed playlist and when it finishes it stops, then it's not for me.

Can someone please advise if this is an issue or normal behaviour and whether there is a workaround?

Thanks
S.
I can confirm that when I asked Google Home to play music from Deezer, it will only do so for exactly 2 hours before cutting out.

Is this a limitation of Deezer on Google Home, or am I missing something here?

Hi @saltyzip, but I believe it stops because the playlist finished... For an exemplo, if you say "play some smooth jazz", Google home will play a Deezer playlist with smooth jazz songs... Once the playlist finish you just need to play another playlist or say "ok Google, play more music" 🙂
When I say play music, what playlist is it playing, as some of the songs are in my flow, others are not, unless I'm mistaken?

I don't have this issue with Google Music, it just keeps playing and playing, like I'm listening to a radio station, but without the adverts.

I'm not asking Deezer to play a playlist, just play music akin to my taste. Disappointed it seems to be work this way, means I will be switching back to Google Play Music with almost immediate effect.

If you say play some music it should play your Flow and not stop after 2 hours. I listened to it on my Google Home without this issue so thank you for the feedback, we will forward it to be investigated.
Thanks, I had hoped it was an issue, as I have 400 tracks marked as favourites just over 25 hours worth.

Do you have all the details you need from me in order to investigate this issue with my Google Home and Deezer account?
