OTD in 1989 Milli Vanilli have their Best New Artist Grammy stripped from them because it's leaked that the two singers (Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morvan) didn't actually sing on their debut album "Girl you know it's True" (still a great song though today even if it wasn't them!).

OTD in 1961 "The Tokens" hit number 1 in the US charts with "The Lion Sleeps tonight". It's been covered and used many times including in Disney's 1994 "The Lion King", however my favourite is when Ross and the rest of the friends cast sang it to his monkey - hilarious!

OTD in 1973 Bobby Darin dies at the age of only 37 after surgery to repair his heart - an ongoing problem he'd had all his life.

His hits include: - "Splish splash", "Dream Lover" and one of my favourites (and I never realised until today he wrote it) "Mack The Knife"

OTD in 2007 Steve Jobs announces the iPhone following up on his promise that Apple were going to "re-invent" the phone. I wonder where the world would be if Apple hadn't bothered?
