Deezer supporting Black Lives Matter

Userlevel 1

Just wondering why Deezer feels it necessary to thrust their opinion about supporting  black tuesday ,which is all fine, but why do i need to see that when i open my app to listen to my music that i pay for..Thats like if i pay for comcast and when i turn on my tv and some pop up political ads come up…..no place for that in a paid format setup…...this is a business…..see enough of all that on the news...just sayin

Hello @sawyer7381 @Somewut, at Deezer we stand for diversity, equality and inclusion. We’re sorry to hear that you feel this is an inappropriate message. But the service is still available as normal to every one of our users and we hope that you continue to use and enjoy Deezer.

We’re firmly on the side of music and the artists who make it. Their issues are our issues and we continue to support them and the challenges they face :v_tone2:

Today I've opened my deezer app and found spam from deezer team wit something like:

Its time to take a stand. We stand for diversity and bla bla bla.

But guys, I'm from Russia, we have nothing problems with diversity against race, coz we have a bit more nations and races in our country than in USA.

And i have bought most expensive subscription of this service. So, can you not notify me about your internal problems?

I pay for this service. I don’t be want to see political statements about riots in the United States. Please quit it.

I agree with the original poster. The United States is not racist, against white people. Please show me the poor oppressed blinged up millionaire black rappers. Show me the poor, oppressed, warmongering black president.

Quit with the politics statements.  Diversity is destroying Europe. #IAmCharlieHebdo

Why are you playing politics with MY damn money???? I PAY YOU, not the other way around! Why are you taking political stands without asking me!? ANTIFA F-CKS!

Grow up you fascist

I've decided to close this topic for breaching our Community Guidelines.

We appreciate your feedback about the product itself, but the same way for some there isn't a space in the app for political discussions, the community doesn't support them either :v_tone2:

Let me be precisely clear. I don’t want any politics on my music platform. No blacklifesmatter, no votefortrump, nothing. I don’t care why you want to push it and I don’t want to see at my front-page or at least provide me some tools so I can hide it. Until this is issue is fixed I cancel my subscription.

I listen to 80% black music, but I consider your recommendation to be racist and I don't mind if it doesn't belong to the music service.

Hello @Paul.Moore and @Placido09, we have taken note of your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you feel this is inappropriate, however it’s not possible to remove this for a specific account. For all refund requests, please get in touch with our customer support team.

Hi,

I never listen to extremist content, so i was surprised that ”black lives matter” playlists where added to my recommended playlist page.

Since i never listen to rap music, i don't think i really care for 'songs' like "f*k tha police" or perpetuating the lie ”handsup don't shoot".

This  extremist content is not even marked as explicit.

Do not recommend content or political from criminals and racists to me and my son. How can i remove content from this terror group?

Kind regards,

Guido

As far as I see, there’s no option to clean recommndations on our homes in Deezer site.

I wish they could add MORE personalised suggestions instead of these 100% for you where 1% is for me, other artists I couldn’t care less like Dual Lipa. Armin van Buuren was one decent on that row.

All colours matter, is my honest opinion.

You need to send feedback about this, can they collect it from here?

We need more options to personalise our Deezer “home page”.

Need some music in your quarantine without searching for it? Listen Hard Dance Quarantine playlist from me on Deezer. From Zatox to Hardwell you will be satisfied. Enjoy your weekend!

Yeah Spotify has a good “Hide this song” playlist that would be somewhat handy here. But you’d still have to go song by song.

I suspect they’re somewhat bound by what information labels and ratings agencies provide. It’s not an easy ask. In the short term probably just keep disliking them and the algorithm might get the picture (there’s probably a common pattern for people who feel similarly)

Any update on being able to remove things from the main “Music” page? I see political propaganda that I would rather not see.

I came here looking for an alternative streaming platform. I currently use Spotify, but want to stop due to their support for the organization Black Lives Matter.

As a user, it’s become increasingly difficult to find a product by a tech company that doesn’t shove political opinions down your throat. At first, I was excited to try Deezer, until I found tweets by the company supporting BLM: https://twitter.com/search?q=(from%3A%40deezer)%20black%20lives%20matter&src=typed_query

Though I'm sure there are good intentions behind this, BLM is not what it seems to be—among other things, they are a revolutionary, anti-capitalist organization that threatens to take away some of our American liberties. It's rather ironic for a business to be supporting an anti-capitalist organization.

I shall have to keep looking for a streaming service for whose usage I don’t have to violate my integrity. Not having any political signaling would have given you a competitive edge. I know I’m not the only potential user looking for an apolitical streaming service. And I doubt you would have *lost* users over not saying anything.

Please consider publicly retracting your support for BLM.

EDIT: I suspect that I will get a similar response to the one posted here:

Please consider taking what I say seriously. Of course you take equality, diversity, and inclusion seriously (though by the way, one can’t have *both* equality *and* diversity—either people are diverse or they’re equal). Nearly everybody does and already agrees with those goals. But that’s entirely different from supporting an anti-American, anti-freedom organization that happens to bear a name nobody is allowed to disagree with.

I think this is how it works: almost every “shiny thing” gets supported nowadays.

Pride, black things and etc. And you can not find a company not supporting it.

My opinion, I would not even bother saying it, because *** lives matter in my opinion.

I am for myself LGBT, but I do not need pride to live my lifestyle...

Also when people say that Black Lives Matter, it is very unprofessional. Because when you say All instead, it means that not only black lives matter, but all colour lifes matter. Magenta, white, green, yellow, purple and etc. I personally would like more personalised page without mainstream.

And anything politics not in app for music. It will only divide.
