@Noam Asulin Hi Noam. Thanks for the albums and Eps etc above for 2018. .. So cool …

😃 I especially enjoyed opening up the Melissa VanFleet. And that Queen album of the soundtrack is so awesome. I never was a fan of Queen, but as the years go by, I now enjoy Freddie so much ,, particularly I Want To Break Free and We Are The Champions.

I will add some albums and tracks to this when I get back from being away .. going today … Cheers,, Ken.

To be honest, I don't follow new releases too closely, so I voluntarily miss out on a lot of potential "Best of 2018" albums. 😉 But I agree on the Queen movie and soundtrack, also because my band covers some songs from them, as we all like that band. As far as I know, the soundtrack only includes original recordings, not remastered and hardly any unreleased ones. But the actors did a great job of giving the impression that they would actually play the songs.

Greta Van Fleet was a nice surprise, our drummer recommended them to me, as we also cover some Led Zeppelin songs, and they obviously are fans of this band as well.

A possible winner of Best Album 2018 for me would be Simon Phillips' "Protocol 4", but it is not available yet on any streaming site, as far as I know, so I only have heard a few songs on YouTube which this British drummer has been playing on his tour. Maybe it will be released on Deezer etc. in 2019.

Best thing happening in 2018 related to streaming music certainly was and still is the HiFi account I got from Deezer, as I am in the process of revisiting all my old dad rock albums with a great sound. Thanks again for that. ☺

An example would be The Neighborhood by Los Lobos which finally has been released on streaming sites and is one of their best albums. I don't know why it wasn't released earlier together with all their other albums, probably some legal issues with their label.

Same is true for classical music and discovering all the great sounding releases e.g. by Monica Huggett, a Baroque violinist and conductor which I have collected in two playlists on Spotify and Deezer this year. Also the huge CD boxes by the label Decca called "The Decca Sound" are brilliant old recordings starting from the early stereo era in the 50s up to the 80s and are much fun to listen to on streaming sites.

Glad you liked Melissa. I think it's a brilliant EP. Very much like the first evanescence album in my opinion.

I also heard Greta van fleet new album. Although I'm not really into Led Zeppelin, I enjoyed a few songs from the new album (However I prefer the EP they put out a year ago. I think it much better). The Vocalist is amazing. It is unbelievable he is only 18 years old!

Regarding Queen, I wasn't a fan either but my friend told me I really need to try "A night at the Opera". Once I did I was blown away! Today this is one of my favorite albums. Queen is more appreciated by me today. The soundtrack doesn't offer anything new but it is compilation of the best of Queen so I thought it deserves to be in the list as a collection that came out this year.

I just checked my Last.fm profile and personal top albums for the last year, and it's all old stuff:

https://www.last.fm/user/hjbardenhagen/library/albums?date_preset=LAST_365_DAYS

They will release the Last.year 2018 overview for each user in early January 2019 with graphic images and other interesting details.

I'm sure I've posted before, but Anna Calvi's Hunter for me is still the highlight of the year!

Just the other day I discovered the Super Deluxe version of the White Album by The Beatles on Deezer which was released in November 2018 50 years after recording it: 107 songs on six CDs with many unreleased demos from the studio sessions at Abbey Road and remixed versions of the full songs. That is definitely a candidate for Best Album 2018 for me!

Hi oldrecord, you're welcome. I only found it by chance, don't remember where, either on Deezer, Last.fm or Spotify while searching for more albums to add to my listening test playlist. It really sounds great, and like the extended Sgt. Pepper's album last year it is a fascinating insight how The Beatles were working on their songs in Abbey Road Studios.

I think Deezer should have some kind of push notification per email or in the apps for releases like that, as The Beatles are one of my favorited artists.

Hi @oldrecord, how's 2019 been doing so far? Happy New Year to you as well! 🇦🇺

Concerning best album I don't know if Deezer always had the Complete Recordings of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit available, or if they were new in the Deezer catalogue 2018, but the soundtracks of Howard Shore all sound spectacular, especially in HiFi audio quality in the desktop app.

Hopefully not too late, but I quite liked Christine and The Queens' new album "Chris". I find her voice and songwriting quite quirky and the French accent makes everything sound so subtle...🤓
