Hey there, sorry for the late reply, I don’t understand what the problem is from your videos…

Hello

when I click on the flow the playlist "Editor's Choice - Turkey" is turned on, instead of my usual flow with endless music
the flow is not working or broken on my account

if I press the flow with any mood, I have one or two songs playing there and it stops as if there are no songs that can be played further

I tried reinstalling apps on my pc and ios, nothing changed
is it possible to disable flow 2.0 on my account. it doesn’t work for me at all, before the flow 2.0 test it worked

I recorded a video again where I click on the flow and this playlist turns on, instead of the flow: clicking on flow

@drzk

It's strange. Do you have that in the web version too?

Yes in this video it’s web version. In previous videos its deezer windows app and ios.

While playing Flow I got the same song twice right after the other, same title but from another album.

Unfortunately, the system does not recognize this as the same song. I had a repeat recently, but it was different mixes of one song.

It would be cool if Deezer could these things as meta data. And it would pick a remastered over a mono or single version. I also couldn’t find these in the API, I think I am going to make a program that removes these duplicates from my playlist. :)

Also the marking of a demo, live or mono version is also different per track, but I guess this is just how it is labelled on the tracklist.

(Looks like my previous reaction didn’t come through…)

@Captain_Eric1

I corrected my first statement (“Flow 2.0 would basically offer you songs similar to the ones you skipped.”) with this statement: “For Flow 2.0, the listening history is only relevant for the repeats.”

Because: Flow 2.0 only selects song suggestions based on your favorite songs.

This is the special feature of the new algorithm and at the same time a test of whether it can be adopted for the regular flow or further developed.

My statements do not contradict the graphic shown above.

I’m not going to say I follow you. But not a big deal, I was just curious.

Is it real to fix or disable flow 2.0 on my account?

I think my flow is near perfect now which is great but repeats still happen because as others have said it does not consider edits  or remasters of the same song  the same song.

 it should really.

Here are my impressions of the ‘new’ Flow:

How and when do you use the Flow?

I mainly listen to Flow in the evening at home via the web version. With the smartphone rather less.

For the Flow test, I only heard via the web version.

But before the test, sometimes not at all for many weeks.

What do you like the most?

Flow is a surprise box to the power of 10. With Flow 2.0 even more so, since very few favorites were thrown in. I'll come to the topic of favorites below.

What I like is that Flow 1.0 uses all genres that I have collected in my favorites: around 650 favorite songs, 200 albums, 250 artists.

How is this Flow better / worse?

What I immediately noticed: There were hardly any favorites from Flow 2.0. I have around 650 favorite songs, which I definitely didn't hear in their entirety when the test started.

What I think is great is that a lot of good new songs have been or will be offered. I have saved some of these songs for later and will also try out other songs by the respective artists.

At first I thought it was good that there were no/hardly any favorites. Meanwhile (we have test day 18) I'm a bit bored/annoyed because there really aren't any favorites. Maybe the annoyance is also due to the intensive testing of the Flow. I don’t know. In the last few days I've caught myself stopping the Flow and going back to my favorite music, sometimes with repetitions. 😉

Repetitions: I had no problems with repetitions with the old Flow.

For a while I listened to a lot of Dance, EDM and Goa. These things are no longer represented in my favorite songs.

Flow 2.0 still threw the hard Goa songs or some kind of Dance sh*t in my ears a few times. Music that can no longer catch me. The only thing that helped was a rigorous dislike.

I now listen more to electronic, chill and alternative music - that's what my list of favorite songs looks like.

The fact that Flow 2.0 only focuses on these favorite songs is no longer a sufficient basis for further song suggestions. The variety is simply curtailed if all my albums and artists (also from other genres than those mentioned above) are not used for suggestions.

Attention, statistics and hard facts:

I wrote down every day until now.

18 test days, 628 songs heard (3.263 minutes)

→ of which 6 favorites (= 0.95%)
→ of which 528 good songs (= 84.08%)
→ of which 29 songs were disliked (= 4.62%)
→ of which 65 skipped songs (= 10.35%)

All in all a very good result, in my opinion... despite the lack of variety in the meantime.

I actually had three repetitions with me. All songs by Boris Brejcha, whose music I listen to extremely often.

Conclusion:

I wish for the 'old' Flow, with a good pinch of Flow 2.0.

So Flow 1.5 would be ideal for me. 😎

I would also like to be able to hide continuous mixes for the Flow. In between I had something with just over 70 minutes in the Flow - in my opinion it doesn't belong there. I have the same wish for live versions of songs → I don't want them in my Flow either.

I think locking a song that has been played within the last 28 days is too long for Flow. Anything between 7 and 14 days would be better - at least for me.

I have not done anything close to the detailed (and most impressive) analysis that @dee_dirk has, I have simply listened to my Flow in the mornings on my Echo Studio, as always.

My results and impressions are similar, however.

I miss hearing favorites with the occasional “discovery/related music” tracks thrown in. The Flow 2.0 discovery has gone so far off the res it’s not funny. I’m hearing stuff like Justin Beiber and Taylor Swift in 2.0, which, while I have nothing against them, are not even close to what I listen to, nor have I ever listened to them.

I find myself stopping the music and choosing a playlist, genre, artist, or something else to get back on track (no pun intended).

I agree with Dirk, and my first choice would be Flow 1.5, second choice Flow 1.0, third choice Flow 2.0.

I already commented once, but here is my updated review of Flow2.

Overall, I prefer Flow2 to Flow1. I like the variety and less repetition that was killing Flow1. I “Don’t recommend this track” only maybe 5% of the time and skip maybe 10%. I was skipping probably 50% on Flow1, not necessarily to not liking the song, but not wanting to hear it again so soon. So major improvement there.

However, a downside to Flow2 is that I almost never hear my favorite songs. I would like to hear them more often. I would also prefer a little more of my favorite artists.

I’d like to listen to something closer to an even mix of 1/3 favorite songs, 1/3 non-favorite songs from favorite artists, 1/3 non-favorite song or artist.

Instead I’m hearing about <1% favorite songs, 20% non-favorite songs from favorite artists, and 80% non-favorite song or artist.

is it bad that flow knows my taste perfectly now?

Thumbs up for the new Flow 2….fewer skipped and disliked songs, no repetition, great ideas for new tunes to add to my favourites. When I feel the need, I just switch to my favourites where I have close to 5,000 tunes. I would love to see the “no repetitions” (for an adjustable period of time) when shuffling my other playlists….great feature!

So through today 07 August 2922.

In effect, I use Flow constantly, including sub-Flow. (Ok sometimes I’ll select more “tracks like this,” (a fine feature) and sometimes I listen to the “Monday Discover” or a Deezer Playlist, say to put on classical when I need to focus)

Flow 2 is better than Flow 1. Much better.

I like hearing the many related tracks very much

Apparently unlike others, I hear plenty of favorites.

Unfortunately, I also hear a lot of repeats. (Which, if I got this right, we were NOT to hear for 28 days after a play, even if the play was heard from seconds before skipped to the next track). So something is askew in my case.

FWIIW, I think 28 days is a good choice for no repeats

Stopping repeats is the #1 feature I’d like to see. (Candidly, Flow 1 was becoming almost unusable.)

I hope that helps you.

But keep going. I like Flow 2 better. And thanks.

You seem to be the only one here noticing a lot of repeats.
I will now make the daring thesis that you may not have received Flow 2.0 at all. Maybe you're in the placebo group. 😉
@Yula can definitely check whether I'm right with my thesis.

Hmmm @Yula and @dee_dirk. Now I'm confused. How could that be?  Regardless, can you add me?

Otherwise it's a big waste of time trying to help you. I've got to wonder if you guys know what you are doing.

Hello there @Captain_Eric1

The Flow 2.0 test ends next week and new users cannot be added, unfortunately. Your input is still valuable, as all data points are considered.

On the note of your final comment, I must take exception, as it was inaccurate, unnecessary, and quite frankly, uncalled for.

@Yula has taken over as Community Manager of deezer during what is arguably the most tumultuous time in the music streaming industry, and certainly in the history of the underdog deezer, and has done an exceptional job.

@dee_dirk is far and away the hardest working contributor to this forum and this community, tireless in his efforts and in his adherence to ensuring the most accurate and timely information is conveyed to subscribers.

The Flow 2.0 project was a significant undertaking and a single participant having been omitted is not unreasonable to expect.

Everyone appreciates all the effort you put into the project and we look forward to your future contributions.

Cheers

G
