Hello,

It would be nice if Deezer remembered the audio settings when changing profile within a Family account.
It always switch back to standard even when High Quality was selected. The same goes when HiFi is enabled.

Hey @jeremybonan

This is not only the case with the Beta, but also with the last official version 8.46.1.1.

In any case, I can reproduce that with a profile within a trio subscription. The audio settings always go back to the default when I switch to a different profile.

Unfortunately, I don't know whether that was the case before.

Maybe @Jaime. can say something about that? :nerd:

I have the same issue and it is quite annoying. Every day I switch profile with my home iPad and it keeps on forgetting the quality streaming audio settings and get back to standard.
please fix it. 🙂

Hey @andsim

A case for the developers. Jaime has probably already forwarded it.

But link to him again. → @Jaime.

Thanks @andsim  @dee_dirk I have contacted our devs already to confirm if it’s normal behaviour or a bug.
I’ll update you shortly :)

Thanks @Jaime.

BTW if one could correct the typo on the topic title. Sorry for that.

Just stumbled upon this myself switching between two profiles. That HAS to be a bug, not a feature ;) Please fix it so every audio quality setting is saved/remembered on a „per profile“-basis.

Thanks!

Hey, apologies for the delay.
I don’t think this is what most of you were expecting to hear but Devs came back to me and mentioned that this the intended behaviour and ss soon as you change user, this setting changes back to default and is not remembered.
Thanks :nerd:

Seriously @Jaime. …

first thanks for answering.
but this is the worst dark pattern ever to make cheap operating expenses behind the back of paying users…

Deezer is already a laggard on hifi audio compared to Apple and Amazon… I don’t want to be tricked by Deezer. I want to trust Deezer.
It does not make sense. Profiles are meant to have one’s settings remembered across the devices.

Wow - dont know what to say, I am BAFFLED…It is expected behaviour to NOT remember Profile-specific settings?!

Goodbye Deezer, just canceled my Family Hifi Account.

You should really consider investing into developer ressources. Otherwise I fear you will lose the streaming game…

cheers

This reply was not expected at all. I change back and forth everyday profiles due to my childern differnet settings and I have to keep on drilling into settings to change back the streaming to HiFi.

I cannot believe a Dev can think this is anyway useful for profiles.

Please think it over.

I just signed up to Deezer almost solely for the profiles, but if it does not retain audio settings it makes having profiles almost pointless.  This is disappointing and will be a dealbreaker for me.  Please fix this.

@Jaime. are they really going with “it’s a feature not a bug” for this issue?  It is obviously a nuisance for hifi family users and most users on this thread feel it is a bug.

i don’t mind waiting for an update with the bug fix but if they are calling it a feature with no plans to resolve it I need to move on to another platform.  Just hoping to get some confirmation. Thank you.

Hello there,

Hifi is becoming mandatory in France early January 2022, with an increase in price: 1€/m for Premium and 3€/m for Family. There is an outcry going on in the forum. People feel betrayed.

However, will Deezer keep on defaulting to standard quality after the price increase? This would make people feel even more betrayed.

Best,

Hey @jeremybonan

France is country number 13, which is being converted to the new subscription models. Other countries will follow in 2022.

Each subscription model will then include HiFi sound (FLAC), as Apple Music and Amazon have defined this as the new standard. (The statement about Apple and Amazon is my personal point of view.)

In the apps you can then still set the desired audio quality, including mp3 with 320kbps and later also HiFi.

Hello @dee_dirk,

That was not my point.

My point is:

  • Deezer has been defaulting to standard quality when changing profile within a family account;
  • We’ve been complaining here and Deezer stated that was a normal behavior, despite being obviously a dark pattern,
  • Deezer is now making HiFi mandatory with a steep price increase, and people are complaining,
  • So if Deezer keeps at the same time defaulting to standard audio quality while imposing the Hifi tier with a price increase, people will be really mad.

@jeremybonan

I see. Now I understand. :nerd:

The subscription models have nothing to do with the standard setting when switching between the individual profiles.

That is, to answer the question: Nothing will change in this behavior. (At least for now.)

Sorry for not having been clearer initially.

Nevertheless, if Deezer makes people pay more for a better quality (high fidelity) but default to sub quality by default, that’s not being fair to them.

It’s like making people pay for a large drink and only give them the small tier in the large glass so they don’t notice at first sight.

@jeremybonan

I agree with you. The fundamental question is, of course, whether the developers have this on their agenda or not.

I strongly suspect that it is on it, but with a very low priority. Somehow like the topic "App for Apple TV". But that doesn't belong here.

At least you can be sure that the community managers will pass on all ideas and suggestions, even if they don't answer directly in the forum.

The issue persist. Please fix Deezer.
Whenever I switch between profiles my High Fidelity settings are reset to Standard (except for the Chromecast setting for some reason). This is extremely annoying.

I’ve just been through a back and forward with Deezer support and eventually got the answer people have had here: this is not a bug; it’s a feature. Dark pattern indeed.

But for some reason Chromecast is treated differently. It makes no sense.

I’ll be cancelling. Deezer saves a few pennies but loses a monthly subscriber. Lose lose for everyone.

Seems that Deezer changed it… 😎

Since the latest two beta updates for me the audio setting on hifi survived the update.

Just tried it with no luck with just released 9.27.0.1 on TestFlight.

(BTW: if an admin could correct the typo in the topic name. My bad.)

@jeremybonan

On DE community another user confirmed that it worked. Maybe reinstalling beta helps for you!?

Hi,

No luck here. I deleted the app and restarted the phone before reinstalling the TestFlight version.

Audio quality settings are not kept after changing users within the family account.

Settings are put back to “standard” for mobile and wifi.

Good to hear it seems to be moving to the right direction anyway.

Oh, sorry… we‘be been talking about different things. I was belonging just to the audio setting of the current profile/account.
Before 9.26 they have been reset after an app update without changing the profile.
After changing the profile settings still will be reset as a feature.
