Better app design in Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

Ok, so by better app design, I mean more options with the song selection screen. Without proper voice assistant integration, I have no way to listen to a song that I want to while driving. The current options in the menu only allow me to choose a few genres, artists that I like, flow, and all saved songs on shuffle. I would like to see some sort of search bar with the voice fill option.

Also the menu design/options between Android Auto and Apple Car Play aren't consistent. There are different options for either device which is kind of odd.

Lastly, I don't know if this applies to Apple Car Play as I didn't test it too far, but you need to remove the touch limit on Android Auto if you aren't going to bring Google Assistant / Siri support any time soon. This feature is really irritating when trying to hear that perfect song for the perfect moment. Same goes with Apple Car Play if this limitation exists in it as well.

The touch limit is from Android Auto. Not Deezer. This means the App makers need to design their apps to cope with this limitation. Spotify and Google Music have addressed this by having excellent voice command support. You can ask for any song, artist, album or play list and it works. If you haven't tested it I recommend using a free trial on either.

I only moved to Deezer as it is now supported on Fitbit. However, I have a long commute so like being able to select any song when needed. Also I have a three year old. So it is really handy to be able to ask for "let it go" or a nursery rhyme anytime.

If there are no signs voice support will be provided I will be cancelling Deezer before the end of my 30 day trial. There is a workaround for Fitbit, I can just buy the songs I want on my running playlist from iTunes and manually upload to the device.

It's ridiculous Deezer is the same price as Google music and Spotify without this feature. More and more cars now have Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Voice support is a must.

Hi there, sorry for the late reply and thanks for your input.

We are working on Google Assistant integration for Android Auto, it should be coming any time soon ;)

Thanks for your comment as well @jubbo on the touch limit ;)

Siri integration is really not up to us unfortunately...
I agree with fckimlost.
First of all not everybody is speaking nativ english.
If I select a playlist from deezer android auto, I would like to be able to scroll through the list and not blindly skip to next melody.
Hi,

I found a thread where it says voice commands wouldn't work in Android Auto?

But! Deezer has a voice button (microphone), and Google seems to take the command:

"Asking Deezer to play . Ok!"

It then passes the info to the Deezer Android Auto app, and nothing happens except an error.

Could you please give an official reply? Should this work, or is the button functionality actually broken?

I have been using Deezer Android Auto for almost 2 years, and I am fed up. I could just switch to Spotify or Google Music...

The proper integration of the voice commands is one thing we are working on currently. 😉
Now I have android auto and when using deezer I have the same problem. Hopefully it will be resolved quickly because I would not like to change the product.

Google takes the command and Deezer has the microphone button but doesn't work correctly.
When I connect to my car, I can not navigate through songs in the playlist via CarPlay. I need to go through my phone. And when I unlock my phone, I can not “unlock” the app from “car mode”. So I can only control the app from my “locked device” screen. Running current versions on both devices. Why don’t suggested playlists appear on the car menu like presented in the app?

Hey @jens_u thanks for your feedback. I've moved your comment here so that you can contribute to an existing suggestion. Apart from safety concerns, I agree we can always improve on this. I've passed your comment on 😉
Hello! After the latest update of Deezer on ios (varsion 7.17.0 (7.17.0.2)) it cannot connect to Carplay. The Carplay didn’t updated and it works before update, accordingly i’m sure that something wrong in new version of Deezer.

Hey @Lobotov

Thanks for reporting it to us. Have you tried reinstalling the app? Do you get an error message?

Hi Rudi, I think you misunderstand. The current function and UX design is a safety critical issue which prevents me of subscribing to your services, and therefore I will not renew my plan at the next occasion. Wish you best of luck of creating an app which is user friendly, and most of all safe to use in the car as well.
