Track Mix should always start with the track that is the subject of the mix

The Track Mix feature in Windows starts the Mix with a Track other than the Track that the Mix is made from.  For example, I choose to create a Track Mix from the song “Go Slow” by Radiohead. I expected “Go Slow” to be the first Track in the mix. This should always be the case.

Can you change this feature in this way? I think you will find that it is what most users would expect.

I have never noticed this… passed this feedback on to the right team! ;)

This is so true! I was very thrilled to find out I can finally listen to a mix based off of one song (seems like a basic feature at this point). But after trying it out and realising that the mix doesn’t play the song you start track mix with I just never used it again.

Thanks for supporting the idea @Jure.Bohinc your feedback is much appreciated :thumbsup_tone2:

Hello @Rafael. Has this idea had any traction? The same issue is still there.

Guess not…

I've changed the status of the other topic @teqteq - that will prompt a discussion around the feature, so the devs can be aware it isn't working to the way you expect :v_tone2:

I agree with this sooooo much! I found this thread because I today I submitted a request for this feature. The person from the support team advised me to check if the feature was suggested in the community.

We need this so much! We should at least have the possibility to activate/deactivate it.

If you look for specific track and play it, Deezer will play a ton of similar versions of the same track, then it will start play the covers, then the bad covers, then Karaoke versions. Very annoying.

It is almost useless to be able to play an individual track, if you can’t play a mix that starts with it. Youtube does that very well! One of the reasons why I’ve started the Premium subscription is that I thought this was a limitation for the free version… Might switch back to free tbh.

Hey @kounistou

Thanks for sharing it with us, we need your feedback to get the feature right. Changes won't happen from one day to another but your input is super important at this time - as we need more and more feedback to build a better user experience in the future. I'll be passing this on straight away :v_tone2:

The issue still persists, and I would also like to add that when searching for a song and playing it, Deezer should instantly play track mix starting with the song you clicked and not play through the search results.

That's right @Jure.Bohinc - thank you for your feedback, we'll let the teams know :v_tone2:

Any news on improving this function?

So anoying to click on “mix inspired by this song” and then fall on the song you wish to have discover after listening YOUR choice .

Could we have an update on this Rudi?

Hello @fiiix12, we don’t have news at this point, our teams have been working on a lot of different projects recently, but we’ll get back to this in the future.

Have a nice weekend

This is one of my few gripes with this app. Right now the only workaround is to let the song you wanted to listen play out completely then press back after it changes tracks and then select “start track mix”. Way too many steps especially if you listen in the car while driving or listen to music at work.

I subscribed from Google Play Music as they end it soon, and will replace with pure nonsense app designed for YT videos, and music less than anywhere else. On GPM it worked from a tarck I selected Radio. Too bad on Deezer this is not the case, I hope you can fix it! Would be nice ;)

Radio feature on the other hand is tremendously amazing. It plays new songs a lot.

I heard same on GPM over and over, on YTM in the same order all the time…

Deezer in the Mix is best, just start with what I choose.

Hello @Dchow1989 and @hpguru, your constructive feedback is really appreciated, thank you for the support  I hope we’ll be able to meet your expectations soon, but it’s still nice that you enjoy our service

You are most welcome.

I am on free trial on Premium and already did transfer for 2 of my lists. One to come tomorrow. I will renew it after that trial one year straight. This good it is. It’s like heaven, all the songs I need.

Honestly I didn’t notice this “issue” until I’ve came accross to this thread.

On GPM however I was used to start a radio on a song with song I start.

Hi, I often use the track mix feature (starting with the track selected) in Google Play Music and would really like it if I could do the same with Deezer, which I'm considering moving to when Google Play Music finally dies.

Thanks.

Welcome to Deezer.

I am from Google Play myself and this is something I want fixed.

When first tried trackmixes, I was thinking it was broken, but it seems it works this way ;d

Probably because you never used Google Play ;d

We are so used to GM radio which starts from the song you start radio from.

This happens to still be a problem, I started a track radio radio and didn’t get a single song from the artist of that track, until about 100 tracks in I then start getting Cardi B and whatever other crap is in the charts.

I too am looking for alternatives to Google Play Music as Google have decided to kill it, but the 1 thing keeping me from Deezer, is that every problem I have has been mentioned in the community threads, sometimes up to 2 years ago, and only ever gets a reply saying either, ‘we’ll pass the feedback on’ or ‘we’re looking in to it’.

It’s a real shame because Deezer has some nice features and nice UI but never takes the time to actually fix issues, I guess I’ll try back in 2 more years.

Have you tried to listen for days?

After I left Google Music, and I know you know why! I was shocked FLOW wasn’t good. In a week of personal listening for hours it learned my taste. I agree that some radio channels of underground hard dance artists or tracks is pure garbage. It plays maybe one track in genre, and then commercial trap. The number of commercial music in some track mixes is astonishing, underground tracks.

I believe it can happen in any genre.

It just needs to be Underground. Much of a competition, yes, but personally I do not like Spotify.

I stick with Deezer in hope they will improve channels.

Thank you so much for trying Deezer!

I’ve been using for abouts a month now, it has gotten better but still happens quite frequently, it any genre I listen to.

The radio feature is my most used feature in any music streaming service, so it’s unfortunate it doesn’t quite work in Deezer as I feel it should(starting with the selected song, keeping more of the selected artists tracks). Spotify has a similar problem of putting things I like in radios, but they don’t match genre I started with.

Deezer is definately one i’ll keep checking back with but reading feature requests from up to 2 years ago and seeing it’s still a problem doesn’t give me hope.

I agree, especially if you try trackmix on unpopular artist or song, let’s say popularity bar of song is less than 1 of 10… it will play pure junk… I am myself shocked it works this way. Perhaps not enough data? They should work really fast to solve it, radio is main to discover.

I do not expect to listen commercial FM radio music when I start indie artist or DJ trackmix.

Thanks for your honest feedback @Bolthead sad to see you go but we'll forward your comments so that we can consider this in our next round of improvements :thumbsup_tone2:

I agree:

  1. Spotify, Google Play Music and maybe something else has indeed such logic: not exclude subject track from a mix (radio).
  2. If I want to listen similar tracks to some (especially when it’s playing right now) — it means I like this track! And I didn’t intend to interrupt it.
