Remote control music on another device / Device discovery

I came from Spotify that already has this feature for a long time, and I miss it.

I like to control the music of the pc using my cell phone, and it would be great if Deezer had this option.

thanks.

After 2 years, it looks like you guys still haven't gotten anywhere with this remote feature so it looks like I’ll just stay with Spotify.  Too bad.  Whichever group that can come up with it first playing lossless music would practically win this battle.  I guess they figure most people listen to music on little earbuds; but not all of us do.

I personally like listening on devices too @avguytx and Deezer wants to have this feature, but with our resources, it takes time

I'll forward your comments to the teams involved, thank you for your honesty :v_tone2:

Hi I'm new to Deezer. Spotify had had this function for years. Will it ever come to Deezer? Trying to find a reason to stay. I love being able to play music on my home theater system but be able to control the music while I'm cleaning in the kitchen.

@rudi How much time do you need? Maybe add features to attract more customers and revenue wouldn't be an issue.

Are there any progress on this? Deezer should really implement it. I’m sure lots of other users who do not use Community wants this too.

IMO, Spotify has better technology. But Deezer has better radio & recommendations. Such a trade off.

Wow. 2 years!

This feel like one of those tasks that are forever buried in the very bottom of the backlog.

I looked at the API and it should be possible to make a surrogate remote control: a small web page with embedded player that actually plays and an API providing remote control for this ebmedded player. Feels like ~40 hours of work + whatever is needed to make the gui for the remote.

Will this be interesting/useful for anyone? Doing it for myself alone doesn’t seem to be worth the effort.

Yesterday, this thread had his 3rd birthday. And there is still no ETA for this feature, it’s not even clear if this ever will happen. So I will probably switch back to Spotify after my test months.

Too bad, I like the radio and recommendations of Deezer much better.
But in my home setup with multiple devices to control and one AV receiver to play the music, Spotify works much better.

In theory it should be even possible to mock the player part of the deezer app/android sdk to make a nice remote control out of it. Should take less time than for this 3-year-old (happy birthday!) feature to get any priority on Deezer side. Maybe another month or two of boring evenings.

@Rudi what do you think? ;)

On the other hand, I’m still pretty salty about you guys throwing away the native library and therefore killing my unborn Mopidy integration. Who needs features and convenience in the sad world of DRM…

Anyway, if someone wants to help with the browser-to-browser remote control (by making a web ui for it, testing beta-versions or maybe supplying me with beer...), please ping me on equidamoid@gmail.com. Put “deezer” in the subject. If there will be enough interest, I’ll just do it.

There are several good services. And each service need to make some new features to exceed rivals. Deezer seems not to add features. Working on music quality - great idea, but it’s not the only ting to do. Look at spotify - not the best sound, not so good usability but the have some uniq features that makes it the most popular service. IDK why you don’t want to compete with them.

A Deezer “Connect” is needed. At this point, Tidal, Spotify, and Apple (kind of) have it.
I am on the start of a three month Deezer trial. This one small feature is holding me back. Spotify is the one to beat. Irrespective of their poor max streaming quality. But if they (or Apple) suddenly offer HD, Deezer and others will be in a worse position.
- I think the “low end” should be 16 bit/44.1 kHz, like it was in the 1970s! :-/
Let the audiophile maniacs pay more for stuff they cannot hear above that.

- The regular folks deserve lossy option for mobile and vehicle use but also CD quality for home.

- Right now, I can play Spotify 320 on any Echo device and control it with Spotify on my phone.
The only mistake Spotify on Echo made is, you have to verbally tell it to play. Well, if you were playing heavy metal the night before, this is no good!
Selectable Echo or Echo groups from Spotify would make much more sense.
Deezer could immediately gain a lot of Echo user ground by not making that simple UX mistake.
But a “Connect” ability in ANY form will be good for Deezer. Then improve it…

I agree with @xanthum. If Spotify adds HiFi, even “just” CD quality, then all the other platforms are done. But, people have been asking them for HiFi for years and they don’t seem to care about that. Maybe they’re in cahoots with other streaming platforms to make people buy other subscription services.

Just switched from Spotify, but this omission is a reason for me to switch back!

can’t find new releases in my Sonos app for instance. ☹️

This is the functionality that is stopping me from moving from Spotify to Deezer.

I love the ability to be able to be listening on my laptop, move the stream to my Alexa if I move to my bedroom and move it to my phone when I go for a walk. All this without even stopping the stream or having to login into a different app and search again for what I was listening.

To a certain extent I understand the fact that “Deezer doesn’t have the same development power and resources than its competitors”, but the final price for the user doesn’t reflect this, and Deezer charges the same price as the “competitors”.

This Connect feature should be prioritised IMHO.

Idea:

Maybe Deezer can do something with Server - Cliënt Control.

Remote through Wifi ip-adress most be possible?

Any news here? I‘m sure we all still miss this feature..

> Remote through Wifi ip-adress most be possible?

Probably never, local network communication doesn’t exist for such services, unfortunately.

Also all the ways of making it work I can imagine are way too nerdy (as in “requires to know what an ip address is”) for a mainstream user, so even more never than never :(

Again, one way of getting this to work without waiting for another few years is an independent project using Deezer API, but it’s a bit hard to commit to without any evidence of people being interested in using it that way and Deezer being friendly to it (== not suddenly deprecating stuff that may be essential for such application).

i used to love deezer but sadly had to move to spotify due to this situation. i still think deezer has a better UI and easier music discovery, sadly the connect feature is very important to many.

Yeah there are many features that make deezer more charming than Spotify but not having an adequate option to listen on a variety of devices e.g. Musiccast it eliminates the argument for the HI-FI plan imho. Also (to speak clearly) cannot understand that deezer dont provide any forecast when it will be available or what’s the current state of this feature.

Means is it worth to stay and wait with inconveniences for a short while or go back to Spotify to finally be able again to have a seamless integration?

Guys there’s a huge amount of upvotes over serveral similar topics and these are the people who are proactive and report inconveniences.
It’s generally clear that a majority of people won’t write into the forum but make a decision after a trial period.

Finally it’s a business calculation 🤷🏼‍♂️.

The following idea has been merged into this idea:

All the votes have been transferred into this idea.

Please! I came from Spotify and really miss this feature!

Not having a “Deezer Connect” to the amazon echo is the only things stopping me from buying premium. Apart from that, everything else is fine

I miss this so much, I never realized how often i swap devices

Still waiting....

Floating by just to see if this feature was available, not a big deal for me as I am happy with the Sonos app but I can see it becoming more and more an issue.

Fwiw @Fritz@meesters.us I find new releases in my sonos app Deezer > popular> new releases

And another post (which I cannot find now) mentioned not being able to add to Deezer favourites in sonos. This works for me play from Deezer and like the track
