Linux needs a native client for Deezer!

I know that exist a client for Windows and Mac, but I can't to find any one for Linux. In my opinion the web version es pretty bad and the company can develop a port for their client.

I think that is important to cover all the platforms for all the users.

awesome, just come here from tidal premium with strawberry(open source app with compability) and go to that link and the link is NOT FOUND.

keeping on tidal wit flacs and 1000 of bitrate at same price :)

We're now actively developing an Electron app for Linux - more update in due course :relaxed:

waiting actively yet to any update..

How much is Deezer losing every month by not providing a Linux client? I've been following this thread for quite some time, and from the start, resolved to become a paying subscriber as soon as Deezer releases a Linux client (beta or otherwise). I'd probably go with a family account, so that's 18,99 € that they could make every month, but are not.

While that's not going to rock the boat at Deezer, I'd be interested in knowing what would, and if there are enough people out there to reach such a meaningful figure if a Linux client was available. Any ideas on how us music listeners on Linux could get noticed in terms of sales potential?

Same here. But they are a business first and foremost. And i supposed their Cost Benefit Analysis didn’t favor the Linux market.

Guess we’re stuck with Spotify for the foreseeable future.

Great. 4 years, almost 1 thousand votes, no app. Disappointed.

I am using deezer-unofficial-player, and apart from Google login not working (manual login works), it looks fine.

Hey, Deezer! Please, make it for Ubuntu or maybe an official Snap or Flatpak. Now, I’m using https://github.com/aunetx/deezer-linux

I leave the topic definitely. There aren’t gonna do nothing. At least I have tidal with strawberry since a few months and it’s definitely a lot better

I was going to renew my yearly subscription next month, but gave up now. I’m tired of switching between different randomly supported versions and browser on linux.

If a random enthusiast can reverse engineer some part of it, wrap it in a simple electron runtime environment, add some features for linux desktop, but deezer developers can’t do it since few years I’m already done with this...

There is something in aur that can do the job.

Anyways I prefer strawberry with tidal support. I recommend to all people in Linux. It's awesome, optimized, fu of options.. and lightweight

Strawberry + Tidal is great since the former is a native application (and I've been using it mostly since switching back to Tidal), but lets not pretend like it is in any way an officially supported method. The feature is just "there" in the settings but the application documentation (somewhat intentionally) offers no help on how to set it up.

Insane its been 4 years and still no native client. I brought a steam deck and now I’ve to jump hoops to play music on it. Definitely moving to Spotify as soon as my subscription ends.

Days have come when we would like to talk about our online carbon footprint. It would be nice to have a deezer linux app so that we can download our music.

Staying with spotify until then.

It’s insane that its been 4 years and we yet still don’t have a client for Linux, if Deezer didn’t come with my Mobile data package I would have never plan to use it in the first place. Definitely moving to Spotify by the end of this year.

This is a big yes! https://vonclaro.com/

Hey Deezer, will 2023 be the year you stop treating linux users as 2nd class customers? (For us premium subscribers..) surely our money is just as good and dirty as everyone else’s? So why are we not given the same service, despite paying you the same amount as everyone else?

Personally, in 2023 I’m going to be buying as many albums as I can afford in an attempt to rebuild and grow the collection I once had before streaming made me cheap and lazy 😛 When I’m confident I won’t be ‘missing out’ without a streaming service, I will stop paying for one.

I had high hopes for Deezer, but after years, there are still so many basic features missing (like a desktop application!), it’s honestly beginning to feel like a scam.

Hi @JimKarnage

I love Deezer but you are right. I am waiting for Linux client so long… If you looking for good product to stream your music I can recommended PLEX and PLEX Amp.

Thanks Phi3nix, I’ve been using Plex for years (not without its own issues!), have just started playing with Plex Amp, will probably end up using it as my main player

Here is another Linux Deezer client:

https://github.com/aunetx/deezer-linux/releases/tag/v5.30.110-1

I’d like to second this. I’ve been using this Deezer client on Fedora 36 at home and it seems functionally identical to the official Windows client I use at work.

Latest version of interface

Perhaps Deezer could contact this developer through Github and work something out?

+1 to this

i guess Deezer on linux is not gonna happen, all the comments are from 5 years ago.

well was nice just to thought about it, and to think what music app does work on linux and go there instead.

ChatGPT will make linux app faster...I will prefer honest statement - we do not care for linux users, forget about app

Come on, Deezer! You can do this! Make it happen!

Here's a recent move by@aunetx asking Deezer to officialy support it:

https://fr.deezercommunity.com/application-ordinateur-et-site-web-58/mettre-en-ligne-l-application-deezer-sur-flathub-pour-linux-40620

@aunetx  has developed the Deezer application for Linux, for the moment for x86, indicating that an ARM version would be possible with some additional effort (for Raspberry pi users for ex.).
