Linux needs a native client for Deezer!

I know that exist a client for Windows and Mac, but I can't to find any one for Linux. In my opinion the web version es pretty bad and the company can develop a port for their client.

I think that is important to cover all the platforms for all the users.

This brazilian Linux distro have a unnoficial client for Deezer in the store. Just install and use, not a “web” version, is a full desktop client for Linux, where you can download the music, for example.

Give it a try.

Try this Brazilian Linux dist, they have a unofficial Deezer in the Store, just click “Install” and it’s done. This isn’t a web, like Mellow Player, but a full Desktop Client!

Give it a try

Used this script to generate a .deb file: https://github.com/davidbailey00/deezer-deb-builder

Works great in Debian Stable.

Deezer devs, we need native Linux app, a snap package would make it compatible with all Linux distributions. Spotify has Linux app, and it’s pretty easy to implement it with Electron technology.

To have a web player without a memory leakage would be good enough already. At the end of the day we aways have our web browser open. The web browser interface and experience is indeed very good, but the current memory leak makes it unusable =\

Has anyone been able to bring up FLAC/HiFi mode on this thing? I’m not seeing this as an option.

I managed to get FLAC on Arch/Manjaro, but not on Fedora using siphomateke’s build script. davidbailey00’s script builds a deb which after conversion to rpm fails to install on Fedora due to a conflicting core OS package (filesystem).

All right, davidbailey00 script is definitely a no go. On Xubuntu it builds successfully but it’s impossible to actually use the app at all: a message saying “you’re in” is all there is in the Deezer’s window. It tries to open a browser to authenticate but fails with an error. siphomateke’s script works and there’s FLAC support in Xubuntu.

What happened to editing messages by the way?

If you publish a Linux client, I'll become a subscriber in a snap! This is the only thing holding me back from getting a subscription.

Meanwhile, 3 years have past since the first message. No Linux app since.

Another year, another visit to this post, again the same answer.

Updated idea status In discussionReplied by Deezer

We're now actively developing an Electron app for Linux - more update in due course :relaxed:

That’s something. Thanks for update, Rudi.

Os there any beta plan or something?

It would be very good for us

Beta would be great. I would love to be beta tester :-)

That sounds great! I also would like to have a Deezer client for Linux.

Oh, that’s really great news! As a Linux user, I’m waiting anxiously. A Flatpak version would be really great. I’m about to drop Spotify exactly ‘cause of the “Linux support” is really… Bad. Ya, you have “support” for a really bad optimized Spotify client, or a web client lacking features. In the other side, Deezer have a great web client, it just lacks hability to keep downloaded songs. Another benefit is that for songs that aren’t on Deezer, I can just push/upload them; with Spotify, you “can” do it too, but you’re, in this case, linked to the bad desktop client and a tough sync process between devices.

I think I’ll really keep on Deezer. I’m trying to install client using those “alternative”, non-official methods based on the current Windows/Darwin version, but I’m facing some issues, probably cause I’m not using Arch neither Ubuntu… A Flatpak version would overcome this kind of issues.

Deezer Player Unofficial

I’m new to Deezer. This one seems good enough. Just run

$ snap install deezer-unofficial-player

So long time and deezer hasn’t provide a linux client.

I think Deezer could do something to get a POSITIVE solution to linux users, like provide a client or plugin.

The unique NEGATIVE thing that I’ve seem was Deezer deny a working mopidy-plugin in 2018.

https://discourse.mopidy.com/t/deezer-extension-removed/2233

So… I think and suggest a good ideia to not compromise the deezer devs is just rehab a mopidy plugin. It could be a good solution to linux users.

And remember the arm64 support - we also like RaspPi and others SBC with arm64 processors!

Thanks in advance.

We are still waiting this deezer linux app so may be I am just changing to spotify again. I don’t know becase the price of spotify is worse( 1 euro I think) But at least there is some things better than here( one of them and very important my family is claming that the catalogue is worse in deezer than in spotify)

@Rudi How is the development of Deezer-desktop-app (using electron) now? Is there a link to download it?

we are waiting news!

I’m here to chime in - a native Linux client would be awesome!
