include

Deezer HiFi support for Android TV devices

Dear Deezer team!

Would be great to have HiFi (lossless) Playback support for Android TV devices.

I have an Android Tv device connected to HiFi audio receiver paired with HiFi speakers. I can really hear the difference in playback quality between 320 Kbps and FLAC. So I'm forced to use Google Cast to stream Deezer HiFi from my IPhone to Android TV to get HiFi.

Many people use Android TV boxes and many of them pair them with home audio receivers. Would be great to have HiFi audio source from Tv box.

Deezer v. 2.0.4.

Android TV 8.0

Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback, we will pass it on to our devs 😉
Im totaly 100% with you.

Ive got the same configuration.

Nvidia Shield->Pioneer VSX 921K->Canton 596 SL.

So i want "Hifi" Support for my system.

Thx

Hi there, we have already implemented HiFi in many more devices and hopefully it will be also implemented on Android TV in 2020 ;)

Good News.

I Hope it will be bossible.

The Nvidia shield TV support lossless audio so its a must have that Deezer Supports it

Nvidia shield TV

Deezer v. 2.0.4.
Android TV 9.0

Would definitely like to see this implemented. At least Chromecast functions better with lossless audio, better than the last time I tried Deezer hifi. Android TV support is a must

has this happened yet? I get the Hifi logo on Chromecast Playback but still not on the android tv app (Nvidia Shield)
This is THE android device everyone has attached to their tv, surely this should be top priority.

Here you can see if TV has HiFi, just look at the OS and if it has or not a HiFi tag:

Deezer Anroid TV app without HIFI support is ridiculously!

There are many people has configuration like this:  Android TV + AV Reciever + Floor Loudspeakers.

I agree with all who forced to use Google Cast to stream Deezer HiFi from some devices to Android TV to get HiFi. It is not comfortable sometimes. That`s why I am expecting from your to rapid upgrade Deezer Android TV app.

Hi @Curious75

I believe Deezer is working on new TV apps across the board however I think the new apps are a while off completion.  Fingers crossed it’s soon! :)

Yes @Rob Igo is right, we’re waiting for information to share with you about this new application. We know the current ones are far from ideal, very sorry about that :slight_frown:

Extremely need it too...

Hopefully you didn't forget to get back with news. 😊 Do you have any?

Not yet @udy

But it's on the plans, TVs are something we're due to improving to our users for quite some time and we're discussing our plans at the moment :relaxed:

I'm tracking some ideas, and nothing is happening for years.

Made Android TV + DAC + Loudspeakers setup today. Installed Deezer... No Hi-Fi available. It is not even a surprising thing for Deezer. It's ok. Just deal with it.

I've found a workaround and now have Hi-Fi quality on Android TV.

1. Go to Android TV apps

2. Delete Deezer cache and data

3. Then delete an app itself

 4. Go to Play Market and install Tidal to get HiFi and even Master quality on Android TV

@Andrew.Snejovski that’s a really great idea! Especially if you don’t care about price, proper Google Assistant integration, or a library that’s versatile in all genres.

Fitting those same criteria, I think I’ve got an even better idea: Unplug your NVidia Shield, throw it in the garbage, go buy a nice turntable (I recommend the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo: https://www.amazon.ca/Project-Debut-Carbon-EVO-White/dp/B08G864TK3/) , also buy a Ortofon 2M Black replacement cartridge (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B002SDY2OC), and buy all the music you want to listen to on 180-gram vinyl. You’ll never have to worry about software updates/compatibility or making sarcastic comments online again!

STILL no ability to stream Atmos or HiFi from an Nvidia Shield/Android TV?  Decided to trial Deezer alongside Tidal but this would be an immediate loss for Deezer.  No ability to stream quality audio on quality equipment is a baffling product designchoice.

Rafael from Deezer replied a year ago saying by 2020 it should work. Any update on that yet?

An AndroidTV user in the German Deezer community recently reported that he could stream in HiFi quality when using the built-in Chromecast feature of the TV setand on his Android smartphone. The HiFi icon is showing on the TV screen then.

Hard to believe that Deezer hi-fi is still not available via the Android TV app. I was with Tidal, moved over to Deezer, but this might get me to move back, or to somewhere where such a basic requirement is catered for.

I second that. The cast option works but it would be really good to have on the app as the cast can sometimes crash for no reason. The best option would be to keep playing in the app from the phone as you have in Spotify only in HiFi.

This is should be working hifi on android TV. It is to bad it still does not work. Advertising with hifi but practical it does not work.

I have a 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro and am curious about Deezer HiFi.

So I assume the Android TV app itself still does not support lossless playback? If I cast to the Shield from a Google Assistant device with a voice command- “Play xxx on Shield” will I get bit perfect lossless  playback? What if I cast directly from my phone to the Shield?

Seems silly that the Android TV app still doesn’t support lossless playback (particularly on the Shield), because the streams come from exactly the same source as casting.

The android tv app is so bad. They really need to work on unifying their UI across all platforms. The android tv app being so bad is making me want to cancel and go back to tidal… ugh why cant deezer just hire some more devs and improve their app?!

I can confirm that the Android TV application needs to be upgraded. It would be good to take inspiration from or totally adopt the new applications for smart TVs (Samsung, LG...).
