Great catalogue and listening features, alternative approach to most things and a desire not to follow the norm! That always worked for me 😉

Bb

It is legally available in my country (Venezuela), so buying the subscription is really easy with PayPal.

I was 6 years Spotify Premium customer. In 2016 I think, I bought my first Chrome laptop, and they do not have apps to install. By the way five years soon with no Windows laptop, hey! So the Spotify does not provide 320K on Web. Why pay Premium and not getting it? I left for Google Music.

They provided web 320K MP3.

The fun lasted for 4 years and I needed to go. Google closed their service.

YouTube music was not the offer for me. The music content was laughable. I couldn’t find most of my music I had on Google Music paying the same subscription fee? The codec was 256K. I’ll go.

So I found Deezer, which I knew already from pastime, but I did register on first day for Premium.

Why, you may ask?

There was great great playlist by Deezer Editor, Antoine EDM & Hard Dance Editor, and I felt in love. Never in my life I’ve seen hard dance playlist on main screen. Not on Spotify. Not on Google Music. Not on YouTube Music obviously. Curated by the service. I listen hard dance 24/7 unless I sleep.

After a week I had my first problem.

I wanted to go annual to save money, but it vanished my trial month.

Not only they gave me one week and one month free, great Rudi gave me another extra month, for the inconvenience caused. The reason I do Deezer is price. Everything is so expensive nowadays, but Deezer. It is right now annually €7,49 mo. I use Toshl Finance app version Pro and everything is in budget now. I honestly do not believe it is worth to overspend on music. It’s just music.

Do not pay more.

Spotify is 10,90 mo in my country Premium. The app is joke.

Main reason I stay Deezer is not only Antoine editor, but these affordable prices.

On poor income it is important to save whenever you can, so you can grow your net worth.

Better net worth or paying more for these giants like Spotify? That’s a question.

Drawn at first by the great sound on HiFi. It was only later I tried Premium and found that even at a comparable file size Deezer sounds better to me than Spotty Fly or :green_apple:

The catalogue is good, and you can import and stream your own MP3’s without having to download them to phone.

Last but not least, the user community is the best thing of its type.

Loving to see an updated version of this topic here:

Thanks for sharing your great feedback, it's motivating to do even better!

Oddly enough, Spotify’s announcement this year that they were adding a higher quality tier made me interesting in finding better quality now.

I’d spent the last few years bouncing between Spotify and YouTube music. The selection and features were fine, but I really wanted to try something with better quality. I found higher quality options out there, but once I saw that Deezer’s hifi works with equipment I already have (Chromecast, Xbox One, Google Home) I decided to give it a try.

I couldn’t believe the difference in sound quality. Lately I’ve had fun going back through a lot of music I've discovered over the past few years but have only heard compressed. It’s like owning CDs of all those albums. I’ve heard details I never noticed before.

Tell me why you choose Deezer over other options ? 😀

Crossfade of Music,  no dead Air! Upload local music files without a Phd!! Especially if the Artist is not available on that service!

HiFi is life. And, huge catalogue!

Scrobbles internally in the desktop app, web player and  mobile apps, even on iOS. Some related issues should be improved like offering the necessary Sharing Preferences to Last.fm also for Deezer Family members, fixing missing ampersands in artist, album and track names, showing the currently scrobbling title on Last.fm etc.

And of course the HiFi sound, so I mostly scrobble from Deezer these days, as I can find almost any music I like here including classical music. Only a few albums are not available in lossless FLAC format, most of them are. Still waiting for gapless playback, Rudi.  Playlist folders would be nice, too.

Also very useful: sorting the columns of a search result up- or downwards and directly playing tracks from that sorted list or sending only the checked ones to the play queue to be played next - which is new, I think, as previously you could only add them to a playlist there.

I’ve chosen Deezer because it feels different. It feels a lot more customer orientated who listen as much as possible to the community, rather than copy/paste replies used elsewhere.

The app is excellent, looks good and allows me to do everything I want. For example, another service makes it very difficult to remove a track from a playlist on iOS. I prefer the straightforward look that gives me everything I need without being overloaded.

The choice of tracks are spot on for me. I listen to a lot of electronic music and Deezer is excellent with the choice available, as well as the crafted playlists. The other playlists, such as Daily, are a way great for new music discovery and seem to pick up the users taste quickly. I look forward to checking my app each morning to see what’s showing for the day.

I finally got to think about the thing that annoyed me the most with Spotify, aside from poor sound quality, and hence, chose Deezer over it and never looked back.

I've been with Spotify for over 4 years until some time last year when I've finally got so fed up with Spotify that I began to look for alternative services. Thank god I found Deezer. Never even heard of Deezer before, I mean it's not the most popular music streaming service out there.  I was watching a French series and it played a very short clip of "Mais je t'aime" by Grand Corps Malade. I couldn't find it on Spotify for some reason, so I googled it and voila, it actually led me to Deezer.

After just a day or two of listening to Deezer Free, I subscribed to Premium. Then, I found out two months later that it also has a HiFi tier so I upgraded.

Deezer, for me, is in the goldilocks zone of likeability. The "don't recommend artist or song" works so great I got to the point now where I never see them anywhere on the app's page unless I would probably search for them.

Spotify can be very instrusive and annoying by playing songs I don't like. And, it pushes too hard by displaying playlists and albums from artists I hate and prominently too on the front page! It got so frustrating that I ended up not using the app for days at times so I was ready to leave and look for a better music app as to not bleed money on a service I hardly use anymore.

In contrast, Deezer is already an everyday routine, sometimes, even playing in the background 24/7 when I am too busy to listen attentively. Best of all, it knows what songs to avoid playing, recommending and displaying on its front page. At first, you just gotta click that angry button to feed the algorithm but then, it works so well in the end.

This is by far my favourite thread in the whole community @SonovP @RysterUK this is what drives my work forward, users who appreciate the sweat, blood and tears of the underdogs (yes, that's us)!

Thanks for the super kind words. Make sure you're both no strangers to this community, we need to make Deezer even better for you :relaxed:

I tried a number of the top services but what was the deciding feature was Flow. It gives me a great range of music that I just love and has also introduced me to new and varied artists that I may have missed out on.

I meet a couple of guys using Deezer and they hadn’t tried flow (not sure why), when I explained my findings they did try and also loved it.

Essentially it’s pretty much all I use, when I am at my desk coding it runs all day non stop.

What do you code? Let us know a bit more about yourself :relaxed:

I moved to Deezer years ago because of issues I had with Spotify’s Android app. While I missed (and still miss) Spotify’s community / social aspects, like telling which of my favourite bands are going to be playing near me, and the fact that it’s generally better supported, I prefer Flow to Spotify’s recommended mix scheme and really liked Deezer’s Now Hear This feature (which has since been removed). Made for you just isn’t the same since its focus is on stuff I already listen to.

Unfortunately for me Deezer’s Android app now breaks with every update forcing me to re-download my favourites, there’s still no supported desktop app I can use and Deezer doesn’t have a family HiFi account that I can use either. Once Spotify opens their family HiFi subscription i will very likely resubscribe there and see what’s changed over the years.

I am sorry if it means to see you go.

Deezer is working on Android app hour after hour this summer, so hopefully things will change ;)

Their greatest aim today is to make app bug free and eventually turn it much better than Spotify you tried is. I hope you can stay for a while to see bug free music journey with lots to add!

Thank you so much for listening your music on Deezer.

They are working also towards UCPS which will bring all the money you pay for them to the artists you listen fully after their slice to pay for workers and similar. I hope it’ll be soon. Learn more.

https://www.deezer.com/ucps

You will never see Spotify doing a thing towards paying more for artists YOU listen.

Join this Deezer Community daily and I am sure one day it will be like Spotify’s one. We are trying our best to keep it alive and people at Deezer they need also you for their success tomorrow!

Thanks :)

I have been with Spotify since start, but early this year I got tired of Spotify since they have for years refused to implement HiFi - and the fact their app is getting more and more bloated with the damn podcasts!. I first tested Tidal but I felt it was too expensive. Then I discovered deezer that had a more humane price. And I love the fact that the app isnt bloated with podcasts on the main page of the app like spotify. I never listen to podcasts so it is good that they are out of sight in their own page so one can consentrate on what is important with a music app. Kudos to deezer for not forcing that on uninterested people like spotify does.
It is said that HiFi with bluetooth are an illusion, but I do enjoy my “illusion”, especially after I recently bought Airpods Max, and are willing to pay the price deezer offers.
I do however feel that the algorithm Spotify has for presenting music based on my preferences isthe best, but deezer is not that that far away, and deezers algorithm is way better than Apple Music´s which I have tested for a couple of months too. And since I now got Airpods Max I discovered 360 audio.

@hpguru is right @Rick P., we need you!

And we've just launched our Family HiFi subscription. Also, like @hpguru the Android app is our priority at the moment. We agree with you it needs serious improvements but we're on it! :pray_tone2:

Thanks Rudi. I know about the family HiFi service roll-out but it is currently a family account for existing HiFi account holders. What I need is HiFi subscription for existing family account holders and if Spotify has this available first I’ll try it. The ability to actually be able to use the many thousands of dollars worth of HiFi gear I already own is a big factor here too so the details of each offering are important to me.

As for the Android app update they really need to fix the ‘revert to device storage on update’ feature. Once I update to HiFi there’s no way I can store a couple thousand tracks in my phone’s main memory - they simply won’t fit. A 1TB SD card on the other hand works very well and it’s beyond me why the developers have taken the path they have. Let me decide what works for me!

I was 10/2010-2016/03 on Premium Spotify.

2016/04 to 2020/05 I was on Google Play. Now I am soon, next week actually, one year on Deezer. I do listen podcasts, but I needed to unfollow few out daily. No time to listen them, too much stress.

I try to listen three I follow, hour an episode so that’s enough.

I am glad you are enjoying Deezer. I will Hifi go next month as well even without fancey earpieces.

Totally get you @Rick P. I believe we'll have the Family HiFi sub available very soon, so keep an eye here as your normally do.

I also agree with you on the SD card, it's been a bit of a pain for our Android app but it does help as a storage solution. I hope we can get it to work properly in the near future so that you can keep supporting us :thumbsup_tone2:

I chose Deezer because Spotify had so many bugs on Android that it was frustrating to use every day. Turns out, I just traded one problem for another. Deezer works better than Spotify on Android, but the desktop client is hot garbage. Complete trash. Fundamentally broken. So maybe I’ll start looking for something else *sigh*.

Sorry to see you go.

Desktop and Web App is one of their aim to get sorted this year.

For now they have 5.0 version fixing some bugs.

You can also uninstall your current one, restart your computer and then download it from here (just got the link):https://www.deezer.com/desktop/download/artifact/win32/x86/5.0.0

Phone app as well. Stay for a while to see it yourself.
