Hello,

Long time GPM user trying to switch over to Deezer.

I have tried using Soundiiz to transfer my GPM library over to Deezer. It however will not find any albums / artists / tracks when I try to import my library information. This is possibly because GPM is shut down now.

I transferred my GPM library information over to YouTube music, and my YouTube Music phone app appears to have successfully imported all of the GPM library information. However, when connecting YouTube music to Soundiiz, the only “Artists” and “playlists” that Soundiiz finds are my normal YouTube video subscriptions (non of my YouTube MUSIC information). Similarly, the “Tracks” section lists all the YouTube videos that I’ve thumbs upped over the years, but nothing to do with my YouTube MUSIC library.

To be clear, I’m positive that I’m connecting Soundiiz to “YouTube Music” and not “Youtube”. Very frustrating.

I have 10,000+ .csv files that contain my GPM library information as generated by Google's "Take Out" service. How can I generate a Deezer library based off of these .csv files?

I am currently on the 1-month free trial of Deezer Premium. If I can successfully transfer my library and I otherwise find Deezer to be close enough to the old GPM experience, I will be happy to pay the monthly premium to continue my Deezer service indefinitely.

Good day.

I am Google Music refugee myself

As Google Music is discontinued, you can not transfer it anymore using these tools. Also when I transferred my Google Music library to YouTube Music, by average 30% of my music was not transferred. The one rep I was able to contact at Google, said they have different rights for music.

I said to him, do you think I will pay SAME 9,99/mo for 30% less music content?

So this brought me here to Deezer and I literally transferred it using my hands.

I understand you may have large library, but it can be done once. Deezer will tomorrow update it’s radio algorithms and you should get much better track mixes and artist mixes. They are wider in tracks, and more related to the content you like in Deezer. Personally radio should be better than Google Music ever had. It is worth transferring from YouTube Music as well. It’s not replace for GPM.

I’d recommend to stay Deezer. After trial, or before preferrably CANCEL it, and once free go for €7,99 mo Annual Premium plan. It will give you the same Premiere experience at grand-fathered Google Music price. Someone who is from Google Music, knows exactly what grand-fathered price means.

So in other words “you can keep it”. Worth the hassle to transfer.

Unfortunately Deezer does not support CSV files which takeout creates.

You can convert csv to text and import it by copy paste search and add to playlist.

What you may not like about Deezer Premiere from Google Music:

  1. Right now only 2000 liked tracks, but playlist 2000 is bigger limit than GPM 1000. Will be increased soon, stay tuned for that my friend. They are working on it hard.
  2. MP3 section no option to download it back and no option to make it like GPM library. It is just more of the casual playlist with 2000 limit (will be increased in the future).
  3. FLOW works much different than Google Play Music Feeling lucky option.
  4. It doesn’t show added to library on artist pages like GPM did.
  5. Your Google Assistant may not recognise Deezer commands.

Despite of these I am happy Google Music refugee Deezer for 6 months.

On Deezer Premium you can have your finest musical journey.

May I welcome you, my friend.

Really trying to avoid this.

Can anyone who works for Deezer offer any input on this?

Alternatively, anyone have a workaround to get Soundiiz to recognize my ‘Youtube Music’ library instead of just seeing my Youtube channel Subscriptons?

You may want to avoid, as from what you write it looks enormous library.

I had only few lists with around 1000 tracks, so for me it was easy, and I skipped liked tracks.

Google Music is now shutting down, but playlists should be available until January. Perhaps they are trying to make leaving them as hard as possible now, because many left them from YTM nightmare.

You never know, and let’s wait when they will abandone YouTube Music for something else.

YouTube Music and YouTube it seems to be tecnically the same. It’s like you listening your music from YouTube actually, just different apps, but a like, dislike, will be shown between these two.

This is what I disliked the most. I want my music in music player, and videos on video player.

Hard to think there is anything more confusing than YouTube and YouTube Music.

Perhaps this frustrates the transferring tools?

Have you tried to toggle on YT Music settings “Hide YouTube likes” on or off?

These can make playlist amount less which apps like this may see for transfer.

Because of this integration, all of your YTM playlist should be on YouTube as well.

Please make them public, grab a link from YouTube, and then try to use this tool:

Good luck

Tried toggling settings but no luck.

Just noticed that soundiiz has a “import artist” button hidden up in the top corner. It’s crashing the browser when trying to import multiple .csv files at once, and I’m sure it it will want me to pay for the service. Still might be worth some $$ if it in fact works.

I’ll keep at it and report back here if it works.

This may be why I cant get Soundiiz to index any of the music in my YouTube Music Library. Not sure if/when Google will fix this issue:

https://support.soundiiz.com/hc/en-us/articles/360017099399?input_string=soundiiz+does+not+recognize+youtube+music

The ‘Google Takeout’ .csv files are formatted in a way that Soundiiz doesn’t seem to parse at all.

What a clusterfuck.

I decided to just manually add all 400 alums from YouTube Music into Deezer. With the two services’ library windows side-by-side on a desktop computer, it’s not too bad. Still embarrassing that this is currently the only way to go about it.

Is there a “download all albums in library” feature on the Deezer mobile app (instead of having to manually download each album?)

Right now they do not have download all albums or lists offline.

You need to go one by one. They are improving app in 2021.

Bugs will be fixed and especially current features improved.

Deezer is running with small team as small company, but their service here is much better than on Google Music ever. You should try it for at least 3 months, because you will not see the whole picture in one month trial. There is no full replacemennt for GPM, but DM is one very close.
