Why is there no Indian music category/genre

Indian music spans hundreds of years, and multiple genres. There is also so much eastern-western fusion music of both classical and modern genres. Yet there is no ‘Indian music’ or ‘South Asian’ music genre on Deezer. Neither is Indian music (classical or otherwise) well catalogued or curated.

I feel this is a huge omission on your part. Indian music is well liked by the whole world. You also have to take into consideration the broad Indian expat community.

It is frustrating to see this omission on an otherwise awesome music service.

This might be caused by the similarity to the “indie” genre, so the search finds that instead of Indian music. Using “Indian classical” as a search term at least finds more than 200 related albums and over 100 playlists, but if you look under the Asia category / genre / channel, India is not found either, not even under the Top 100 playlists which show different countries. Probably another reason is that Deezer is not officially available in India yet, see this list:

You might create a related idea on this forum, so other users (e.g. 1.3 billion Indians) could vote for it.  At least there is already one for a Bollywood genre:

I have created a related playlist with Indian classical music recorded by the English Nimbus Records label some time ago, maybe it is a help:

I think you might also have more luck using more specific terms like Raga,  Hindu, Bollywood etc.
