Good Day Rudi,

Much appreciate the response, I actually have an update for this.

I can now successfully use my USB DAC, by clearing the “Open by Default” Setting within the app (UAPP) management on my Android phone.

Meaning every audio can now feed through the USB | OTG within the native app of choice ie. Deezer.

I currently testing all streaming services with and without a relatively cheap  DAC (DragonFly - Black) and can say that your Deezer Premium is just under Tidal Hifi with sound quality, which is impressive, from my perspective.

I will be looking at Testing the Deezer HIFI later in the week but at the moment I’ve very impressed with premium.

Note: I don’t class myself as an audiophile but I  do enjoy my music and due to the recent changes with GPM and YouTube Music, I’ve decided to test my options again.

Questions will Deezer in future be incorporating:

  • More Lyrics
  • Music Video’s
  • Better Sound quality options regarding DAC, devices, etc.

Hi there, great idea for cars! So sorry about the very late reply.

Make other users vote for your idea in order to get more attention

I am trying to find a HiFi audio streaming platform that does not force my audio down through the lousy internal DAC in my phone.

Many of us who are audiophiles (I assume that we are your intended audience) have external USB DACs because there is no point in plugging $400+ headphones into an iPhone or Galaxy Note 9.

It would make so much sense for you to either directly support OTG USB out or allow USB Audio Pro to directly access your feeds, as it can with Tidal and Qobuz.

Wanting to love your service as much as I love my setup.

Hi there @MDXwired

Thanks for your honest feedback - much appreciated. I'll be passing these comments to our relevant teams here at Deezer. Hopefully with our new planned features, we can help you with your set up.

Hello,

Like Matt also wating for opportunity to directly connect external USB DAC to my smartphone through Deezer.

Please tell, are there chances that this function will be implemented in the near future ?

Thank you for your support @ZaurKh - not sure about the implementation yet, but I've voted for your idea

Hi Team Deezer, any further development yet? Deezer compatability with USBAPP is a fantastic idea.

No developments yet @CatVsGrizzly but thank you for bumping up this thread with your support

OTG support would be amazing, I’m an ex-Deezer user, and currently testing most of the streaming services at the moment, I have to say I do like the Deezer app the best. (Android + Windows).

OTG Support may stop me converting back as I would also like to use my external DAC with my Andriod phone using the UAPP | OTG form time to time.
Can you provide the option within your own app?

I would ever consider the HIFI option but no point really if no OTG support.

P.S. to give you some context, switch from Deezer to GPM, when they offered youtube etc as bundle, but I getting tired of the app issues of late and audio quality not quite up to par.

Workaround is to use the UAPP with external dac, but if you could offer the OTG I think users would really appreicate it. I currently subscribed and thinking of continuing, hopefully this gives you insight. :)

Many thanks.

Thanks for the honest and detailed feedback @hohr - much appreciated. We're looking to update our public API for more reliable integrations and we're looking at more options in terms of audio output but things at Deezer take time as we max out our resources in some many features and improvements at the same time. Please subscribe to this and other related topics so that you can keep up with future updates :v_tone2:

Hey @Jim Barton

That's a good idea but the topic is quite old, we'll need something more updated. Besides that, there's good feedback here that has already been passed. Let's keep in touch about it :thumbsup_tone2:

Hi @hohr

Wow, that's amazing to hear. I've pinned your reply to the topic, thanks a lot for sharing with everyone. For future reference, the idea is to improve our public API so that our integrations have more features and are, in general, more reliable - this is a bit we surely need to improve. Once you're testing Deezer HiFi drop me a PM so that I can discuss the feedback from you directly :v_tone2:

@hohr So I have to clean the default settings on Android, connect the Usb dongle, open UAPP and then open Deezer (keeping uapp opened)? Or is there a different order in these steps? Thanks.

When prompted when using the OTG USB  UAPP app at when prompted just hit cancel. I believe now since the latest update the  UAPP app has a feature called a release UAPP driver if you wish to use another app now.

I’ve decided to use Roon software with Tidal now on Windows devices and AV setup with Sony Andriod TV, and UAPP + Tidal for Android.

I used https://soundiiz.com/ to migrate my music over.

Roon is a beast on its own with software advantages (DSP and upscaling) and you can push out to end devices and integrate your DAC's etc.

Roon and Audrivana are the best from my testing and I went Roon I Windows and found Roon performed better, but if you have mac the Audrivana sound a bit more bass in the mix.

Wired mode over Bluetooth any day as well! (Sony wh1000xm3 + AudioQuest DragonFly Red with Jitterbug)

I spent a good month testing music with a low budget in mind, as once you go down the rabbit hole of an Audiophile never-ending. (example > cables properties etc.)

For me now, upgrade to better wired Headpones Xmas or next year but overall I really impressed with my current setup.

Just enjoy your music the way you want too!

@hohr very nice! But when you use UAPP + Deezer you can control the volume within UAPP (as you can if you use UAPP with tidal integration for instance)? Thanks!

hi,
I am unable to get this working reliably with a Audioquest Dragonfly.  I usually end up with Deezer playing, track time counter running-up, but no sound at all, or the sound runs in the phone’s speaker.  If I do manage to get it to play through the DAC from Deezer (switching back and forth, unplugging USB), then as soon I as I switch to the UAPP app, it all goes wrong again - usually Deezer keeps playing but silence.

Hi there @appdu

Apologies but we're unable to provide support for that integration. In order to get DACs working with Deezer in the future, please vote here :thumbsup_tone2:

Back to the Dragonfly, @hohr could you give us a little hand?

Thanks.  For now, I have abandoned the idea of using an old Android phone as a media source because the DAC support is poor and the power consumption fairly high in comparison to Windows.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop @appdu if there are any changes to this, please let us know!
