Hello @AstridP, @hellonearth, @Mike R., @baslking many apologies your are experiencing these complications and sorry for the long waiting time. Our Deezer Desktop App developers have informed us that the technical fix is finally on its way to reduce automatic logout and Captchas significantly - and only has to go through our Quality control department at the moment.

Hi there @bluegrass

Sorry you've experienced difficulties. Our captcha is in place to ensure a higher level of security which could prevent spam attacks among other threats, for example - as recently happened in our communities. But we're looking into our login and security as a whole, so thanks for your feedback.

Same here. Sometimes I have to solve google's moronic riddles ten times or more to log in from the same computer and the same IP. It's very frustrating and I find myself more and more going over to the competition despite their much inferior player. I understand the importance of filtering out robots but it's for sure easily doable in a way that doesn't filter out people too.

Thank you @crnpr4

I'll pass your feedback on - we're looking into our authentication methods constantly.

Same here. Please remove those damn useless and annoying captchas which add nothing to security. You should ask them only if your systems suspect a brute force attack. Doing it systematically just destroys the user experience, and today, this is just like shooting oneself in the foot…

Just to confirm, I downloaded the latest version of the desktop client and captcha is STILL present. If a customer pays for a service, you shouldn’t force them to help train Google’s image recognition models. Maybe only do this for the free version?

Thanks for your input @BenFr @n1gth

The app shouldn't be logging you out any longer with the latest release, this was fixed. So Captcha would only be a problem once, before logging in - it's not planned to be removed for the time being. Thank you for your understanding!

it's funny, I just signed up to this forum looking for a way to avoid the captcha in my desktop app (windows). Since I'm permanently logged in in my mobile device, hardly ever on my desktop, first I had to:

  • remember which password I used.
  • MEH, wrong password, try again.
  • MEH, captcha again.
  • MEH, you did not choose all the correct pictures. Try again.
  • MEH, actually it was your hotmail and not your gmail that you used, you stupid user.
  • Of course, try again with all the passwords you normally use and fill in the captcha every single freaking time.

Man I was literally punching my keyboard. If that tells something to the developers… now, I definitely thought whether my money would be better spent at Spotify (unless they also use Captcha, nooooo!)

Hi @cactilio86 we are sorry to hear you are experiencing this. There is a technical issue with the Deezer Desktop App but you should automatically always stayed logged in in the Deezer mobile app. Could you please let us know how often you have had to go through the procedure mentioned above?

On which mobile device are you having this issue? Then we can help you further with this matter. Thanks

Being asked by Deezer for captchas sistematically is frustrating because they are hard and have infinite levels sometimes (“thought your done? Hey, here’s one more!”) and deeply humiliating.

Each time I have to go throught that humiliation I get closer to cancelling my account.

Hi @ljg we are so sorry about that :disappointed_relieved:  I have forwarded your feedback to our developers and asked them for a fix of this problem again. Thank you for your patience.

Hi,

the captcha system is broken, I had to answer 8 captcha’s bevor log in! (I really counted)

That’s really too much.

Please fix that….

Thanks.

Hey @gandolf_wizard

Thanks for the input. We know it can be frustrating.

We're discussing how to make our desktop app experience better and this is one of the subjects. Your feedback is much appreciated :thumbsup_tone2:

Having a Captcha on a desktop app for a product I’m paying for is insulting. I’ve been pretty satisfied with Deezer since Spotify let me down hard several times (and I even was a beta-tester there). But if you don’t remove the captchas, I will leave. I’m not willing to pay money for clicking on bicycles and traffic lights.

So, can you promise me it will be gone in the next release?
When will that be?

The captchas on the desktop app need to be removed. I don’t know who thought this would be a good idea, but captchas are mean to deter bots, not to be used as a form of two-factor authentication (with the second factor being that I am human).

If I have already authenticated using username and password, that is just wasting a paying customer’s time.

If you for some reason insist on having it, at least only use the captchas after 100 failed logins and one successful. At least that would look like brute force behavior of a bot that got lucky.

Hey @blirp

We're trying to fix this logout issue first because it'll be quicker than introducing a new authentication method. The idea is to still go ahead with it, but fixing the logout issue is more of a priority. Thank you for your feedback and once more, apologies for the inconvenience :pray_tone2:

Hi @BringBackHearThis we are very sorry about all the Captchas. We have forwarded all your feedback asked the developers to change the authentication method or at least reduce the number of Captchas. They promised that they will change it.

There resources are limited and they just have to fix the Logout issue first because it is more severe and the fix also reduces how often you have to go through a Captcha anyway.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience.

I don’t need to be logged out of the Desktop app so often!

There are much better ways to deal with login security than a bunch of captchas!

Absolutely @rrollins

We understand your frustration, but you also aren't supposed to fill them in all the time - please update your desktop app to 4.19.10 and let me know how it works :thumbsup_tone2:

Hi,

in relation to my last post, I have the newest version (4.19.10.80) installed and got logged out again and had to answer 10 captcha’s again! Sorry but why on earth do you use captcha’s in your desktop app? And not 2LA? That makes no sense and only annoys your customers!

Please tell your developers to stop annoying me with captcha’s in the desktop app…

Best wishes

Anselm

You keep promising to forward the feedback - I don’t think you understand how horrible the experience you are providing. Going through the most irritating kind of captha over and over again every day is exactly the reason why everyone knows who Spotify are - and deezer remains a little unknown service. Instead of pushing users to other services, solve this. Limited resources is an excuse, the reason for this is poor prioritization. You are completely stopping your users from using your service, I can’t understand how this can be de-prioritzed for a year. Instead of syncing the lyrics, allow us to access the app.

Hi @Rudi,

Thank you for your answer.

I got logged out again, 8 captcha’s until I could log in!

Sorry its really frustrating! Please get rid of these! It takes the fun out of Deezer!

And the developer did not repair the captcha problem in 11 Month since this topic started!

Sorry that’s bad!

It would be great if the developers would value your customers.

Best wishes

Anselm

Hi there @gandolf_wizard

Thanks a lot for your feedback and for your patience.

They're working on the logout issue first, and other ways of authenticating the account. But it takes time, these changes need work and planning before implementation - the logout problem is the quickest way to get you listening to Deezer without interruptions as soon as possible :pray_tone2:
