In the Family subscription, profiles can be regulated strongly or less strongly.

Among other things, the family admin can directly determine who is allowed to play explicit content and who is not.

How is explicit content defined?

  • If a track contains obvious force expressions, there is a high probability that it will be classified as explicit, e.g. F**k, B**ch etc.

  • If a track mentions or presents sexual content using offensive language, it is classified as explicit.

  • Racist or discriminatory content that is commonly regarded by the public as offensive is classified as explicit.

Or to put it simply:

If you have to/would like to close a child's ears as soon as a song is played, then it is most likely explicit.

Does it need a family account to hide explicit content?

No.

→ Tab music or favorites → Settings (gearwheel) → Explicit content

Hide or show explicit content. My example shows explicit content. I'm already grown up.

Attention: The update might take a few hours.

@dee_dirk Hi. I am a new user and have all the hide explicit content settings marked (and have for a couple days) yet I can still easily access explicit content.  Will that be fixed soon?  I’ve tried my profile, a kids under 13 profile, and created a 2nd private user on our family account. I’ve also logged out, deleted/reinstalled the iPhone all, and tried the web version all with the same issue. Thanks, Eric

Hey @ourockclimber

Usually, the settings should take effect after a few hours. However, if you can still see/open explicit content with the different profiles, support might need to take a look at your account.

You can start a ticket here:

If support was able to help you, feedback from you at this point would be great. This gives other users - with the same problem - direct help...

How do I block explicit content under just certain profiles (separate login) and not others?
