Strange and counter-intuitive "Artist Search" results

Umm… why when I search for a (well known) artist name, let’s say “Sting” or “Metallica”, the results page first give me as “Top Result” one of his albums, then tracks, playlists, albums and lastly his Artist Page?!

I specifically searched for an artist name so the “Top Result” should be HIS ARTIST PAGE. From there I can explore his albums/playlists/tracks. Isn’t this common sense? Spotify doesn’t (yet) behave this way...

These “features” made for laziness or pseudo-convenience or whatever they are, always puzzle me.
Is this a Gen Z thing or what? Am I too old? :P

Hey @Eddie C I’ve tried searching for different artists and the first thing I got every time under Top Results was the artist page .
Can you please send me a screenshot of what you get as a result after an artist search?
Thanks :)

I get the same thing Eddie described, but I personally like the deezer search function and the return. The artist page icon is just down the page, out of view.

@Eddie C , while we're waiting to hear back from @Jaime., I thought I would mention that what I like about this search return is the tabs displayed across the top.

When my Sting return came back, I can just easily tap artist, playlist, or any of the other selections up there, or peruse all the offerings. I have found that other services, Amazon Music for example, make me scroll down the page to get to what I want, and then expand those categories when I get there.

Since Jaime said he's getting the artist return at the top, and I think that's what you're looking for, hopefully it will be resolved soon in your favor. In the meantime, that’s what I do, it may or may not work for you.

Thank you, I agree the tabs-row at the top is useful and I use it too sometimes.
I used Spotify and Tidal and generally I like the Deezer interface better. Cleaner, more streamlined. The “Friday Releases” and “Monday Discovery” give me better content too. Spotify “Releases” list is full of live performances and remixes which I don’t care much for. There are some bugs in Deezer Android app which I mentioned in other threads, but then there are bugs in Spotify too… So for now I’ll stay with Deezer.

If you are, so am I. I too think the order should be changed to list artists first since that's presumably the smallest list. In my mind tracks should be last since there could be hundreds of matches. Basically reverse the order of the tabs, or give us an option to do it ourselves.

I’m fine as is, but that’s what Eddie wants. I don’t see anything in settings that would change the search results format. Maybe it’s region specific? can’t be OS, since you’re on an iPhone. I’m on iOS in the US.

What’s interesting is that @Jaime. gets two top results, first one being the “proper” one (Artist), and the label is “Top Results” while we are getting only an album under the label “Top Result”.

Something to get into attention with the dev team.

Same.

Why not use the filter? Then the order doesn't really matter.

If you read the rest of the thread, you'll see that's what I actually do, and that I am 100% happy with the search return. I'm just trying to help out here.

Damned. I really missed that. :fearful:

Then at least I delivered the matching screenshot. :cowboy:
