Scrobble Last.fm from Deezer not working

It is possible to link your Deezer account to your Scrobble Last FM account from a computer/laptop using this link:

You should see the Scrobble as the option on the right.

According to last.fm, "Scrobbling goes through our undefinedast.fm] api, but the actual implementation is done on their end undefinedeezer]."

Both sides say it's on the other's side end. Great. This really does look promising.
As commented above, Deezer has no partnership with Last FM, but Deezer and Last FM are in touch at the moment to see what it could be done ;)

Wouldn't it be best to reverse everything, restore the old interface and release the new one once everything is sorted out, given that the issues started with the release of said interface?

There are 160+ replies to this thread with 7000+ views (and some more on last.fm's community pages). I believe this affects more than just a couple users and should be resolved ASAP.

Hello everyone,

For over 10 days now Deezer isn't scrobbling my listened songs from website or Android app. Contacted Last.fm, I was unable to get any info, but looks like it its't their issue since YouTube scrobbling works. Removed all extensions, unlinked the account, reinstalled the app, connected everything again, and it's still not working.

Can you please help me out with this issue?

Got a temporary workaround for scrobbling with Deezer web player:

  1. Deactivate new UI in settings
  2. Use Chrome extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/web-scrobbler/hhinaapppaileiechjoiifaancjggfjm
Fingers crossed for Deezer to fix things on all platforms for good. 🤞
I listen mostly on mobile (iPhone). There does not seem to be any fix and it's been about two months since the issue started. The ping-pong between deezer and last.fm is incredibly frustrating, with neither wanting to take action and resolve this once and for all as the issue is "on the other side". Senseless.

I will now cancel my family subscription and look for another service. This is ridiculous.


Absolutely agree. That is crazy as hell.
I am a huge Deezer user, with more than 1000 listening per month. But the issues I experienced lately are unacceptable. Guys : just forget your useless new UI that won't help anybody, please be sure that your theoretically supported features work.

Bye bye Deezer, hello Spotify.

Rafael, you just keep repeating "Deezer has no partnership with Last.fm" as if having no partnership somehow absolves Deezer from all responsibility towards this issue.

Tens of other apps and sites and music players also have no partnership with Last.fm, and yet the implementation of Last.fm's scrobbling API works great in their products. And in Deezer, this was never properly implemented - tracks were being scrobbled at the end instead of when begin playing, they were scrobbled immediately instead of when played 50% or more, they where scrobbled with an occasional delay, etc. But at least it worked!

Now, it doesn't. And since all other services who use the scrobbling feature still work, it's only logical to conclude Deezer messed something up. Yes, Deezer, on their end (partnership or not).

Mistakes do happen, we all realize that. And I'm sure the solution is being worked on, but from a customer's perspective this seems to be solely because of Last.fm's effort - their community manager saw the thread in their forums, and after seeing the problem persisted, they registered here and offered direct collaboration to solve this.

Rafael, as much as you were trying to help, your comments like "we have no partnership with Last.fm" and "there's nothing to be fixed on our side" have the opposite effect: they make Deeezer sound pompous, and dismissive towards customers' legit complaints (although again, I'm certain that's not the actual case).

And also, to echo Luka.Urbac's post, mark this as "not yet solved".

Hi Guys, Deezer doesn't have any partnership with Last FM, therefore there is nothing to be fixed on our side. Scrobbling is a Last Fm feature and hopefully they will get it fixed soon! We have already passed the feedback on to them. Sorry about that!

This is garbage btw. Deezer is not sending the information to last FM correctly. There's no problem at last FM's side at all. Scrobbles from all other devices and methods work fine.

Deezer is the one that needs to fix whatever they broke a few months back (VERY likely related to the big update to Deezer around then).

Deezer's internal scrobbling option works again including their desktop and iOS apps. The callback URL to Deezer after authenticating it in your Last.fm account was broken using http instead of https. The workaround recently described in a related thread with installing the HTTPS Everywhere browser extension to fix this issue is not necessary anymore.

Other issues with it still remain of course like not submitting ampersands in artist, album and track titles or not showing "Scrobbling now" in your Recent Tracks list on your Last.fm profile. See the Deezer Scrobbling FAQ on the Last.fm support forum:

I’m on iOS, and despite having linked my Last.fm in the account settings on the website, no scrobbling happens when listening through the iPhone app. If you fix this, I will subscribe. If not, I’m going to have to keep looking for a music streaming service that scrobbles.

It really irks me how Deezer staff always seems to treat this issue like an isolated problem, when obviously it is not.

I've been using Last.fm since 2009, actively scrobbling all this time. I'm not a fiend for accuracy, I'm fine if my scrobbles appear a few hours later. But I do want to continue building my library: it's serves me as a historical reference point to my listening habits, as well as a quick reminder if I wanna find something that I've listened recently.

The current state of the Deezer's Last.fm scrobbler makes this impossible and is unacceptable. Please, approach this issue with severity it deserves. Millions of people are using Last.fm's services, and having them constantly malfunctioning with Deezer is not a light issue.

Web version, Win Store version, Desktop app (these on 2 different PCs), mobile... my scrobbles appear with a huge delay, if at all. Will they appear sometimes in the future, are they lost forever? I have been willing to put up with Deezer's various bugs and quirks and whatnot, but these add over time. I like it, despite it all. But I'm now at the point of looking to switch platforms...

For the past few days, Last.fm has not scrobbled any of the tracks I have played on Deezer. At first it was just extremely delayed and now just not scrobbling at all. Amnyone else having the same issue? Thanks

The songs I listen to don't appear on last.fm for a few days now. I read on the support forum from Last.fm it has to do with your Last.fm-app. Is there any news about that? If I can't scrobble my songs, I'm affaid I have to leave Deezer.

It's broken for some reason for the last few months on Deezer for me, and they haven't shown any urgency in fixing it. It's incredibly poor and frustrating.

is somebody actually working on this? it's been going on for a month now... I've been scrobbling since september 2007 and I'd like to have my statistics complete... if nothing changes in two weeks, I'm leaving Deezer for Spotify.

no, it's not a valid excuse. I have some very big playlists at Deezer, which makes it hard to leave. I don't think Deezer cares, even if all the Last.fm users leave, because I don't think it is a very large group of costumers.

Feel sorry for bringing this up but since Deezer hasn't shared any ETA or even a clear acknowledgement ->

Yeah, it's the same for me for the last few weeks, was lagging for a couple of hours at a time but now just doesn't work at all. Unable to download extensions on my work computer so it needs to be fixed fast. Spotify is working HINT HINT DEEZER, HASHTAG FAMILY SUBSCRIPTION!
