Do you have trouble when you try to listen to music offline? We’re looking to improve the offline listening experience for the cases where you have no network and want to listen to Shuffle My Music or even to your Flow.

To play out a couple of scenarios:

  1. You open your app, you’re offline, and you want to listen to some music, but you have no downloads.

  2. You’re listening to some online content, like Flow, and lose your network connection.

If you've experienced these types of scenarios or frustrations, we want to know, and if you have any ideas, we’d be happy to hear them!

Please share below, our developers and product managers are eager to hear from you  :microphone::musical_score::headphones:

Well I’m guessing most people have the cache on their mobiles set to 1gb or even more (me 3gb) - that’s a lot of cached music so when no signal maybe used the cached songs until the signal is back? (for flow or shuffling my music)

Great piece of feedback @Rob Igo 👍🏼 I'll be passing it on.

I believe Deezer can make use of dedicated cache space on each user’s phone to save the last “x” number of tracks listened to, and when a user is offline, the user can always access those tracks just like the downloaded files work. But this basically should only apply to non-paid users, for paid users, their flow when offline should basically just shuffle all downloaded tracks.

No issue here (iOS beta).  It always works when I use it.  And by the size of the downloads I don’t believe there is any issue downloading HiFi quality.

Hi all, in case you are experiencing a technical issue » your music is downloaded for sure but your mobile data is being used » Please open this topic Music downloaded but mobile data being used and comment on there. Thank you

Tbh, poor. It seems that you are only allowed to have good quality tracks downloaded and safe guarded if you do a song and dance...... It would be nice to know that you MUST! have WiFi to make app function as you would think. This has led to a frustrating experience.... Previously downloaded tracks unable to listen to while traveling..... Previously downloaded tracks go all satanic..... Poor quality of some tracks...... Questionable authenticity..... Overall I am disappointed

On Android, I have a couple of playlists that I have downloaded for offline listening, however, my offline listening has been very frustrating, to say the least. The majority of my supposedly offline music does not play (see attached screenshots). Other times the songs are just outright broken. Also, sometimes the app won’t even load the “favorites” page. Ever since the day I was stuck on a flight with no music, I can no longer rely on Deezer offline.

Google Pixel 3 XL, Android 10, Deezer Family, Deezer App version 6.1.16.108

Hi @gkanyangela

Thank you very much for the detailed comments and screenshots. It'll be very useful for us to get how to improve this experience :thumbsup_tone2:

everytime i try to listen to my favorite tracks, the app stops working :(

I am a little confused by your comment! You use the word "should" often and I just wanted to know if you meant by should! I understand how a cache works, so as I don't have much storage space on my phone, I can depend on the cache to listen to my music offline? Lol, I hope I got it right! I am new to deezer!

Something changed with one of the updates for offline mode. It used to be that all it took to listen my Flow offline was just simply having Smart Cache turned on and most of the songs just simply worked on an airplane. I didn’t fly for over 6 months and just tried the app again on a plane and nothing worked. I have over 5 GBs of songs cached on my phone specifically for this reason. I haven’t specifically downloaded anything because Smart Cache used to be enough. What’s the point of having 5 GBs of songs cached if I can’t listen to them offline. I’m not going to stick around if this new interface requires that I specifically have to find the songs I want and download them. Just restore the functionality of Smart Cache being enough for Flow to work offline or I see no reason to stick with Deezer Premium.

Please improve the offline experience

Such as offline search of all tracks

A playlist or folder that lists all your music

Would be very nice

Thank you

Hi there @David Rogers

Thank you for your feedback. I've moved your comment here so that you can support other users with their experience offline. I'll be passing this on

Well, lately downloads never finish in Windows 10, they get stuck at the end of the download of something, and when I close and open again the app they are completely gone, it used to work some weeks ago but it works no more.

Hello @Alvaro Marquina thank you for the photo - that is very strange indeed. Could you please let me know which Deezer Desktop App you are using and make sure your Wifi is working very well? Have you tried reinstalling to see if it helps? If it is still happening then, we need to investigate further :spy_tone3:

Hi, thanks for anwering, it’s the Windows Store version, but I downloaded the standalone installer from another thread here (it would be nice to include that in the download page, I couldn’t find it there) and it’s working fine, I guess the issue is only in the version installed from Windows Store.

Hello @Alvaro Marquina, thanks a lot for letting us know that you found a workaround to solve your issue  That’s interesting to know about the Windows Store.

Cheers!

Overall works great, although sometimes some songs haven’t been downloaded correctly, maybe because of not having enough time, or a bug of that version.

For me is important to save in some way, the things we do offline to do automatically when connection is back. Give a heart, add to playlist, etc

Unfortunately a very common problem here… Endless loading sign. Restarting app doesn’t work. I really need to restart my phone to get it back working. It happens 3-4 times a day

Happens with both (strong) wifi and mobile data.

Thanks @Martijn.Keymis

It could be related to the Beta version you've got. I'll pass the feedback to the devs :thumbsup_tone2:

Are you using an SD card in your device by any chance?

@Rudi no SD card. Just the internal memory

We're investigating it @Martijn.Keymis - seems to be related to the Beta version. It happened to another Oneplus too. Keep an eye for the next version and let me know :v_tone2:
