Hello.

This is why you need to cancel Google Play Music for Deezer Premim.

Google reached me out, paying since 2016, that they will close GPM and I am like what? They indeed offered for same price YouTube Music but it is awful. Most of my tracks, are available, but these 20% are not. Why to change for worse product paying the same? Didn’t like interface at all.

On YTM it takes ages to scroll one playlist with 300 songs… and you ask why Deezer?

GPM users are not happy with YTM and I bet some of them will go to your service as well. It is unacceptable to force paid customers for worse service closing old one.

I want to go Deezer Premium because you offer what GPM gave me, LOTS of music, 320K MP3 and, amazing music experience from browsing to listening. I am subscribed for Free now and start transfering music over (3 lists). Is there anything to make it easier? Any tips!

On YouTube Music they offer 256 kb/s, really? On GPM it was 320K all songs...

I’d like to start from when ready with free trial. I also want to continue, because I am 110% sure it is the best option for me, GPM will close by the end of 2020 -- so a bit in a hurry. Can you help me.

I want to get best offer from you, one year payments with only 10 months.

Can I get FREE trial and then one year for 99. Or is it only 99 without trial, or trial and then 9,99 month by month. How to get both offers. Paying for Google Music didn’t receive any other discounts than worse service and forced update… I am usually paying for service year after year to listen music EDM. I hope my music will stay here to enjoy. I need home for my lists for years to come.

I think it’ll be better because Deezer stays for the music and they won’t ruin it like Google did…

They literally made me cancel their subscription (since 2016) with one email and bad offer.

Now I am sitting at my couch looking what Deezer has to offer.

Hello @hpguru, I only just saw all these comments, and this feels so nice to read all this positive feedback! I’m very glad you think we provide a good service. We still have many features to improve, but we have a strong motivation to do so with the resources we have, and reading this just motivates us further, so thank you for that  I saw you commented quite a lot on the Community, I hope to read you more from you, and obviously don’t hesitate if you have any question or need any help, and feel free to communicate with the other users as well

Hello again.

I am still on Free but I am already sold for your app.

It is better in millions compared to YTM and better in thounsands to GPM.

Like I said would not do a thing if they kept it, but now it is closing, so needed to do things because was unhappy… my honest opinion about Google they don’t listen feedback from long GPM users.

I complained about bad search on GPM, and on YTM is even worse, from a master of search. I searched tracks to add on my lists on Deezer. It gave me EXACTLY what I was searching!!!

Made it easy. I was able to transfer one of my list in less than a hour… less than 300 songs.

Easy to add tracks to lists and I am canceling GPM/YTM for 9,99 with happy face very soon.

Your service is so good, I am sure it is bargain at 99,99 a year (2 months free), I am not even going for Premium trial on your app… I go straight for one year with two month discount. This good it is.

In Chromebook can not install, so Browser, and this is why I could not accept Spottily because they stream on Web at 160 kbps. I need 320 kbps with my high end Sony bluetooth noise cancel.

Again I am really happy with your Free service, didn’t need trial to determine it is for me.

I will sign right away for a year with two months free and keep it for years to come.

Thank you and I will update my journey with Deezer.

You made my life easy again. No more I need to wonder when they close my access to GPM.

What I mean by poor search? Search Deetox - One Life and find it on Deezer in 0 seconds.

Search it on Google scroll all these links, pages, and things to find no song.

In zero seconds what I wanted to playlist
Where should I start on Google YTM to find nothing

And no more I need to waste my time searching music from irrelevant results on previous.

If you want to try why I am canceling Google YouTube Music, just use it for a hour and you’ll know why. It is pain in your head using it. Slow, search is horrible, music is less than anywhere else.

It just feels right to be a newcomer to Deezer. Will buy one year offer at 1st day of next month.

Who ever is creating Deezer, you are doing great job. Thank you.

In a hour transferred first playlist of 288 songs all kind of hard dance music in edited versions.

I am so impressed, I can’t wait to pay more!!! For a year straight with robust discount.

Right now I canceled GPM/YTM for good.

It seems like they want to get rid of GPM users with their YTM.

Again it is nowhere near to serve a die hard music fan with less music, buggy interface, less features YTM lacks even column sorting in playlist!!! Who will use it, unless it is some kind of a joke.

I can keep my dance music repertoire in 320K. This is main thing.

No way I would accept less in 256K in YTM as Google Play Music ends soon.

There are playlist converters for switching between streaming sites, e.g. from GPM to Deezer or others. Not all of them support all sites, but I think TuneMyMusic.com should offer a GPM to Deezer transfer. You can find related posts here in the community naming other tools.

If you are interested in higher audio quality than GPM, you might consider Deezer HiFi with lossless FLAC streaming which neither GPM nor YouTube nor Spotify nor Apple Music offers. They have lowered the price to 14.99 per month recently, don’t know if there still is a free trial for it.

No problem, keep shining in your work. Your work is valuable.

Music is my way of life. I am happy and content because of music you provide.

I listen 320K and thanks for another user answering, yes they do provide free trial of Deezer Hifi, and is actually what their customer service offered when I asked about replace to GPM 320K -- we have even higher and 320K on Premium. I do not think on Bluetooth you can run FLAC. And my mobile plan is a bit showish for that anyway, so and oh I am fully happy in Premium 320K it sound awesome.

Huge thanks for your service, I am enjoying it with my heart.

Today I am transferring my last playlist to Deezer. It takes me home.

Music helps me to live happy life. Free to be and find another high :)

If you want to know what I found which might be worked on:

  • On GPM I was able to start a radio from track I started, on Deezer it plays from other tracks.
  • On GPM when listened track radios, artist radios etc. I was able to queue tracks, not possible on Deezer in the mix I think. Or what mix it is. Could be improved.
  • On GPM radio it showed next songs, I kinda miss it a bit, but not a big deal.

Everything else is better and it makes me happy to see HQ on cover image. Then I know it is streaming the best. Again thanks for your kind words and I am sure to enjoy more of it all.

Good day.

I was on time. Received a letter from Google where clearly explained that Google Play Music will be shutting down in the near future. Latest customer will be kicked out from platform in October 2020. I feel sad. I used to listen music from 2016 on Google Music and honestly it was amazing. I am shocked that they are retiring it, something which worked for AGES, with a nonworking product.

YouTube Music. I haven’t seen any happy Google Music user who said that YouTube Music is amazing! Is gargabe at the best. Scrolling lists takes ages, awful UI, and hard to use interface is worse. It was my dream to have bug free streaming and now I seem to finally have it.

Google is also closing MP3 store which made music buyers mad.

I am happy with Deezer Premium, but they might want to improve it further.

Now MANY Google Musicians are looking for options and they are searching for similar product. Deezer has to offer it yes, but some of Google Music amazing features are nowhere to be found when retired. This is important for Deezer, as they may fish GPM users. Please do it.

I saw year ago will go Google Music since rarely they had any big updates, and bugs were not fixed, unless critical. I was tired of some bugs, but I stayed loyal. It was time to go this year and oh.

Did I say that I left them right on time before closure.

Thank you for your time.

It’s not new honestly . Google said they will shut it down a few years ago already . Anyways , regarding the music quality it’s not really sums up in numbers , but also in the format type . for example , YouTube music offers 256kbps quality and Deezer offers MP3 CBR 320 kbps . So you’ll think  GPM is better right ? Well not exactly . YouTube music uses AAC codec while GPM uses MP3 CBR   On paper , AAC is better codec than MP3 CBR .  So , if they told you they offer 256 kbps it is probably better than what they offer on GPM . However as much as I can tell the difference isn’t big

The difference is big. Many who used GPM are NOT happy with 256 AAC. Highest high was selected and I always went back to Google Music for the sound and content. I can definitely tell that Deezer 320K MP3 is far better than 256 AAC in YTM. They must compress it bad way or something.

https://support.google.com/youtubemusic/thread/64128744?hl=en

There’s many threads where people claim that 320K MP3 on GPM is better than 256K AAC on YTM. Yes, it should be better AAC, it should be even more than 320 MP3. Also MP3 320K on Deezer is tremendously better than on GPM. I only enjoy after changing music platform by force of course.

I did knew that they talked in 2018 about closure, but I was still happy since it was not near.

Until now obviously.

Thanks for asking.

I actually transferred my lists by hands. It took me approximately 4 hours to transfer one list with 300 tracks tea time included with occasional rest and music enjoyment on Deezer. I had another and another about the same amount tracks. It took me 12 hours in full to have it all Deezer.

Liked I didn’t transfer.

This is one tool I found, but for me it was pricey, because I could just do it myself with little effort.

https://soundiiz.com/tutorial/google-music-to-deezer

With their free tool you need to make sure to transfer 200 tracks at a times.

If you find out to have lots and lots of lists, may be worth paying. It is one time and cancel.

I hope this helps. Welcome to Deezer.

I’ve been enjoying it. Some need improvement, but I believe they are working on it.

Everyone who decided that Google Music is good to go at Google should be fired.

Say good bye to Google! They never cared for us!

Literally ending working product for something which doesn’t.

So I’m at three months using Deezer.  It’s pretty good and easily the best Google Play Music alternative. It does seem to have some issues though…

I’ve been taking some notes over the past few days and thought I’d share. Hopefully others might agree and Deezer might consider the suggestions…

  • Weird search...not showing important results.  I've seen this several times.  I will search for very specific items and they simply don't show up (even in a short list), but when I'm even more specific, the correct results are there.  For example, I just now searched for "Me and the Devil" because I knew there was more than one artist covering the song.  I received two types of results. 1) A covered by Soap&Skin and 2) a number of results for the song "Me and the Devil Blues" by Robert Johnson (which is *not* the correct song). I wanted a song by Gil Scot-Heron, but it simly did not show. When I entered "me and the devil Gil Scott-Heron", the song was clearly there.  This makes me wonder how many other versions of this song might exist but are simply hidden from the search results for some reason.  Interestingly, Google Play Music has a bunch of songs by the same name. A quick search on Deezer by the name and the artist reveals that Deezer also has these songs....but there's no way to find them unless you specifically know the artist's name to add to the search.  When I search for a phrase (such as "me and the devil"), I want every single result of every single song, album, and artist that contains that specific phrase :)  Even the primitive and featureless YouTube Music shows most results (mixed with countless results that have nothing to do with anything haha).

  • It's very annoying when using "Launch Track Mix" and you're unable to see a list of upcoming songs. Are the songs some mystery that I'm supposed to solve?  Are you under legal obligation to surprise me with each song? Let me see what's in the queue.  I need and want more than "Just Heard".

  • PLEASE let me select *artists* to never recommend. There is no world where I ever want to encoutner music by Megan Thee Stallion, of example). I want to block all Karaoke artists on sight. I don't want to block their songs whack-a-mole style. Let me remove the artist.

  • Give me a thumbs-down option. It's great when I like a song with a heart, but I want to dislike a song. Clearly this is the "don't recommend this track again" option, but you keep that option hidden two clicks deeps. Give me a side-by-side love/hate option so I can tell you what I want and, more important, what I never want to encounter.

  • Your casting option is very clunky and seemingly hidden.  To cast, I have to first choose a song to play...then I have to play the song...then I have to open the queue....and then FINALLY I get to tell it where I want to cast.  Casting is clearly a frequently used option and shold be visible on every possible screen.

  • Your compatibility with Google Home devices is....spotty.  Today I was listening to a playlist.  An alarm went off on one of my Google Home devices.  I said "stop" aloud to turn off the alarm.  Not only did it turn off the alarm, but the ending of the alarm triggered the end of my playlist. Typically, there's an expection that music should either pause or reduce volume when encountering a Google Home event (such as the alarm). I would not expect it to simply turn off.

  • Too many of your suggestions are from pop music when I clearly listen to very little popular music. For example, I just now tried creating a "Launch track mix" from a 10 year old local Hawaiian reggae song (hoping for more island reggage or, better year, more Hawaiian reggae).  Instead, song #2 was Megan Thee Stallion. Further, many tracks being suggested are in French.  I understand Deezer is a French company, but I'm not really into anything more than an occasional song that happens to be in French.

Google Play Music is now official closure.

I am happy Deezer Premium user, paid year in advanced since 06/20.

YouTube Music really hasn’t improved a bit in that time.

I am so happy to listen my music with Deezer podcasts included!

Good bye Google Play Music, you will be missed.

I literally enjoyed hard dance music all kind on Google Music since 2016 to the late 2020… and I was always happy, content and pleased to pay until they said everything will be out of sight soon.

I was disappointed because Google Music was my way for the greatest music experience.

I am glad I was able to find even better Deezer Premium to replace that thing.

I guess thank you for the years of music I enjoyed with lots of memories, now is time to have Deezer Premium for next I still miss you Google Music so much, I had best times with you always.

Until we meet again!

ATTENTION ATTENTION

All I can say about this change from Play Music to YouTube Music, is this:

Google are full of thieves. They have stolen my music I purchased.

I bought few singles: CombiNation - East Jesus Nowhere and Chris Frame - Flashback. They did offer the transfer to YouTube Music, and now when Google Music closure no option to download.

I deleted them as asked, in hope I can do on YouTube Music when needed.

Turns out I can not listen music I bought!!! Screen off. And I can not download it either to my phone.

And I need to listen ADS between music I have PURCHASED!!!

Google are full of thieves. They have stolen our music.

If you search for and use “Google Takeout”, you can download all of your mp3s.  I did this.

GPM has not yet died for me (how is that possible??). However, I’ve tried YTM and I agree that it’s abysmal.

I have used Deezer for a few months now and...well..I was impressed at first, but the more I use Deezer, the more problems I see.  Only tonight did I fully realize that I can’t search sort my own uploads.  That’s kinda crazy :)  Further, there are a number of issues with using Google Home and Google Assistant.  I find the lack of integration with uploads and the Deezer catalog to see massively lacking.  After a few months, I just don’t see me remaining a customer and I’m yet again looking for a (nonexistent) suitable replacement.

Hello.

Which portals have you tried so far and I think none of them can replace Google Music.

I still hope Deezer will improve service, as like you said, is not fully replacing Google service.

I’ve tried Spotify, Apple, Pandora, Amazon, and Deezer.  I’ve not yet tried Tidal.

All of them have some good qualities, but none of them have the punch of GPM. GPM seems like it was developed by people who actually were music enthusiasts and not just coders who knew how to manipulate data and user interfaces  YTM seems like it was built by folks who don’t even listen to music at all.  GPM was awesome because it worked for the enthusiast who wanted to dive deep...but it also worked well for the causal listener who just wanted the trending top 10.

In every service, there seems to be missing a few fundamental and obvious features that should exist in any service….such as the ability to search and sort your own uploads.  That’s such an obvious thing one might want to do.  That YTM doesn’t even work well with Google Home and Google Assistant his hilarious.

I agree.

Google Music was a real music app. In Finland, for me at least is is closed now, no access. I guess they have the same team as Google Music -- but they are working for YouTube Music team.

Perhaps they have strict rules now, and YouTube Music is no replace.

I tried Tidal twice and honestly didn’t like it. Perhaps it will not be your cup of tea either.

It was bad movement from Google to remove bargain service.

I paid for Deezer Premium year in advanced and for me biggest issues right now are:

  1. Limit in liked tracks is 2000 only, they are working for a good time now to incease.
  2. Trackmixes and Artistmixes playing commercial garbage if artist is underground. This is unacceptable as it may not be related to music hard dance, rap or metal music I hear.
  3. No new music notifications despite of following artists.
  4. Not personal enough home page.
  5. No option to reset flow or to remove certain pop songs from it.
  6. Podcasts option could be improved with more features.

I will use it for a year and see how it will change for better or not.

Then I may or may not start exploring the rest.

Right now it is usable for me at €7,99 price point annually. €9,99 I couldn’t pay personally with these issues I described. We will see what happens, it seems no Google Music clone to get into.

Good day.

Believe me I still miss Google Music I had. It was awesome app.

I liked it with my heart. It simply worked for ages. I enjoyed tremendously the one account, all services thing. I mean, YouTube, Music, Drive, Blogger and what else. Now I need seperate Deezer account etc. I will never forget how much I used to enjoy streaming with handsome Google Musics.

Deezer Premium is soon for 6 months in use.

The Radio Feature is better, when it works, but otherwise Google Music nailed it better.

Flow is better both. I remember Google Music Flow was amazing in this: I restarted FLOW and it started to play another genre I listen. I kinda like miss… Deezer FLOW plays all genres in one I listen.

The app design HANDS DOWN is for the Deezer. It simply works better.

Also these social features are good, especially when not too much.

I am still not 100% satisfying with Deezer Premium, but at €7,99 annual price point I won’t complain much. Honestly would pay 9,99 too, but it should be better experience for that. For instance radio channel improvement. Trackmixes can be tricky as less popular songs started playing commercial.

Please keep improving Deezer, I think it could be great one day. Right now I like it 95%.

Simply because of these silly limits in lists and liked tracks, and very poor radio at a times.

Also I do not like popups popping on my Android Deezer suggestion new albums.

I wish they changed that to bell icon instead and started posting also artists I follow all new.

Thank you Google Music for my 5 years with you.

I hope to have another 5 years with Deezer Premium at least.

If you keep annual Premium at €7,99 price point, I’d be more than happy to continue paying.

When my current annual ends next year at the end.

I’d easily pay $25 per month to have kept Google Play Music. It was just that good, that solid.

After three months of a trial, I decided last week to cancel Deezer. There are just too many things wrong.  I like the look of it -- it’s pretty but also kinda clunky.

The real killer for me was when I tried to stream my own uploads to my Goolge Home devices...and couldn’t.  While I wasn’t thrilled with the small number of uploads I could make, being unable to stream them was inconceivable.  Also, the lack of sorting for uploads was a problem for me.  the limitations of upload integration were also bothersome.  The music library and my uploads did not behave cohesively.

I had really hoped that Deezer was going to be my new home, but after three months, I can easily laundry list the issues.  Of course, all of the other services also pale in comparison to YouTube.  They’re all in a race to copy each other for mediocre greatness...while GPM was unabashedly great.

I understand.

If I used MP3 section the way it was on Google Music, I’d cancel myself to.

Which service are you using? I bet, not Google YouTube Music?

For me, like I said, Deezer works at €7,99 price point.

I would not pay personally normal price.

I am sorry to see you go.

Please come back anytime when you feel like Deezer Premium is worth again.

You shared great feedback about how they can improve it.

More feedback from me:

The Search is BAD. Ridiculously bad on Deezer. I type artist and song with typo somewhere, it says no results. It never shows Did you mean? and right keyword. Finding songs on Deezer Music is always a pain. I didn’t know it was that bad, until I tried to find something.

On Google Music it was much better to find.

The other thing I miss on Deezer, is personalised stats and better suggestions.

Dislike button is needed NOW.

Radio function should ALWAYS start AFTER playing track. It was this way on Google music.

I’m still using Deezer (until next billing cycle which is any day now)….and I’m trying to accept YTM (though I’m constantly grumbling about it).  I picked up Amazon Music and asked for a refund within 10 min (it was awful).  I’m about to try Spotify again, though i’m pretty sure I’m still hating it.  Considering they all suck, I might as well stay with YTM since it has YouTube Premium

Amazon Music is so bad, I never tried it.

Their Web Player with no account tells much about it. Messy interface, bad search, hard to navigate artist pages. Sound quality may be good, but navigation and looks are turning away.

I recommend Tidal to try or Yandex Music if applicable.

I personally do not like YouTube Music. I have it Free and it is unusable on phone without a plan. Music turns off when you are on it screen going off. Also little to no improvement during months.

I am the guy who is not asking the best out of everything: Deezer flaws are acceptable.

I understand if MP3 collection is simply too limited for you.

Good luck with searching alternative.

Have you tried to get your own server streaming MP3 music?

I compared Radio I am sure not to like Fully on Deezer Premiere.

It plays charts if you listen unpopular, or let’s say lesser heard artists heavy metal or hard dance.

Is not bad when you enjoy FLOW or popular hard dance and heavy metal music.

It won’t play charts.

Deezer FLOW 8 out of 10 and Radio 7 out of 10.

Spotify Radio 5 out of 10.

YouTube Music Feeling Lucky 6 out of 10 and Radio 5.5 out of 10.

Tidal Radio 4 out of 10.

Google Music Feeling lucky 6.5 out of 10 and Radio 6 out of 10.

Google Music (DISCONTINUED):

It was a journey on Feeling lucky when it worked and didn’t play charts. Sometimes I restarted it five to ten times to hear my favourite genres. When on point id’s say amazing, but only if you didn’t mind repetition (you could see from play counts). Radio from tracks had same problem as Deezer. Lesser known could play lots of unrelated genres or nightcore’s. I’d say to the point Deezer Radio is much better, even if not that much when it doesn’t work as waited. Google Music radio was very repeat based radio. The same tracks over and over again was mad. Glad they closed.

Spotify:

It is generally on point when lesser heard tracks, but it plays the same. It took me few moments to test it out why. It is based on PLAYLIST of 50 tracks. They have no “Flow”. I started same track radio severally and it played EXACTLY in the same order between deviced and sessions.

YouTube Music:

“Feeling lucky” flow is actually decent as long as it won’t play music you played at pool party month ago… YouTube Music radio is I don’t know why feels so boring. It seems to be playlist based. It plays the same exact songs as it played month ago. Worst radio experience. Do not recommend at all.

Deezer:

It is great when it works. Flow is amazing, but with no option to modify it can not be praised as best. Radio is not based on playlists when it works, if you end up on lesser heard artists it will play charts. Rudi said, that their aim is to improve it and make charts only when chart track radio is going on.

Tidal I tried briefly before and they were under my expectations. I didn’t like it at all. I don’t mind if they have it lossless or high end, if radio is this bad not recommended at all. It was so boring at a times, I wanted to sleep long. They did play my favourite music with no selection at all.

I’d rate it 4 out of 10.

It seems like 10 of 10 Radio is nowhere to be found.

It’s sad. But perhaps Deezer will be one, if we give them options to improve.

A photo from 2016…

Nostalgy for me. I used this thing daily and I was happy. Let’s call it Google Music.

It was bad decision for them to close it by the end of 2020. I acted fast when they said that, because I wanted to transfer on time from them, I didn’t like YouTube Music and I do not to this day haha.

The Google Music it was perfect. The design was amazing. It’s all gone.

I started with Deezer Premium on 29.06.20 and it means in few weeks I will be for one year.

Would I be here if big G didn’t closure my music portal I listened daily for years?

Probably not. But I have no regrets of being Deezerholic now!

Thank you Google Music for 4 years I listened hard dance with you, I enjoyed.

Let’s be honest. I still miss many Google Music features like Thumbs up and Thumbs down, play counts on Deezer. I simply used to live with them. They are so useful, can someone add.
