Can Flow work without being tied to a mood or genre? What about new releases/discovery? I just wanna listen to music, I don’t care if it all fits neatly into a box or label someone has decided it should fit into.
I’m happy for deezer to try and work out how lukely I am to enjoy a certain song. Especially if its an actual algorithm and not just matching tags or genres. It seems the approach is more like “you listened to one edm song, you must like all edm songs” or “you listened to one sad song, you must want to listen to a whole bunch of sad songs”
Flow is cool, sometimes I DO just want all music that suits a mood. But what if I don’t? What if I just want to enjoy a variety of styles and moods and genres, especially while having dezeer try and suggest songs I’m likely to enjoy?
I can shuffle my favourites, sure, but what about songs I dont know and havent ‘liked’ yet?
Can the flow feature just be ‘no preference’? Can the new releases just be ‘all releases this week? What about discovery, why be limited to just discover from one box? Maybe there is a way to do this? please tell me if there is.

Hi Nina! Thanks for replying!
Hiwever, all of those things I have looked at, and all of those things put new music into boxes.
That’s fine, especially if, say, I want to hear a mix of music inspired by a certain artist. But what If I just want a bunch of random different music that doenst fit a genre or mood or decade?
I’d like a playlist where a Megadeath song might be followed by Fiona apple, and then maybe something by Frank Sinatra or some unknown Brazilian psy trance producer. As Opposed to a mix of heavy metal songs by bands like megadeath, or a bunch of quirky sad female singer songwriters, or a bunch of hits from th 60’s, or just all psytramce from Brazil.
Listening to the same music over and over makes it dull, even if for some reason I automatically liked music just because it sounds similar to music that I already like.
I feel like there should be an algorithm that just plays ANY music that might suit me. Surely the algorithm can match my liked songs against other users with similarly eclectic tastes and suggest better songs using ‘people like you enjoyed this’? There must be better ways to suggestusic than just suggesting more by the same artist/genre/decade?
Actually, you mention ‘Explore all (genres)’, that sounded promising too, but it is just a link to a list of genres that I then need to pick from. This is my whole point, I want all genres, not just one at a time. Like when I eat, I try to have a variety of foods. I like carrots, but if you made me a whole meal of carrots, with carrot juice to drink, I’d be a little disappointed. Even if you suggested turnips (cause they’re kinda like carrots) I’d still be sad. Please, I would just like a buffet.
Well , in that case I suggest you to make your own playlist and put there songs from all (or some of ) genres and then play with turn ON shuffle mode . In one playlist you can put 2000 tracks .
So on one playlist you can put tracks like pop ,rock ,salsa , EDM ,country … 60s 80s and etc .
Or if you don’t want make playlist put all that music in Queue .
Here is link
Aha! yes, I found a +add to playlist button for the whole of each ‘discover’ playlist. So I can just add each individual ‘discover daily’ list to a single new playlist, then I can play that list on shuffle.
It’s a little unwieldy, but much easier than adding somgs one by one from the genre/decades etc playlists.
