Can I stop next tracks in queue from playing automatically?

Userlevel 1

OK, so I’m not sure what the correct terms for everything are, so maybe this was already asked and answered somewhere around here and I just don’t know how to look for it. Anyway, when I search a certain term in the player, the results screen first shows tracks with that term in the title. Pretty standard. When I click on one of those tracks, it’s played which of course is also normal. But then all the other track results are added to my queue and played automatically, and that’s not something I want. Is there a way to just have that one specific track I chose play? If I wanna hear other tracks, I’ll just add them to the queue manually. Should note I’m using the browser version, I don’t know if this is also the default across platforms. Thanks and joy to the world

Hi @GalIsReal

What you are describing is the desired behavior when selecting songs.

Example:
If you are on the page of an artist and select a top track (1), all further songs are automatically added to the queue (2).

But if you only want to hear a single track now, you have to go to the submenu (3).

There you can simply choose whether you want to hear the song next (4a) or whether the song should be placed at the very end of the queue (4b).

I selected 'Listen next' (4a).
The queue was changed with this single song (5).

I hope I was able to help with this little guide.

Hi @dee_dirk and thanks for the response. It’s not exactly what I meant with my question. I’ll add some screenshots and hopefully it’ll be clearer. Let’s say I search a term and see some tracks including that term:

If I click on one of those tracks, it of course starts playing:

I just want to hear that one track, but Deezer adds all the next search results to the queue (which was otherwise empty):

And then, as soon as the song I clicked on ends (plus a few seconds gap which is a different problem), the next search result starts playing automatically:

So my question is: Can I somehow make sure Deezer doesn’t create such queues, or at least doesn’t automatically play the next tracks in the queue? I gave an example of the search bar, but my question also applies to artist profiles. I assume the queuing function is the same in both cases.

I hope that makes it clearer.

@GalIsReal

I already understood you correctly.

You just changed my example to search results. The handling is identical in both cases.

Also within the search results you would have to tell Deezer in the title menu (3) whether the title should be played next (4a) or placed at the end (4b).

@dee_dirk Thanks again for replying. So now I understand how to choose whether a song is played next or at the end of the queue. What I want to know now is whether is a way the next songs won’t be played at all. If I press on a track that’s not part of an album or playlist, I might want to hear just that track. It’s a very small issue but Spotify has that option to just play one track from a list (say of search results) without having to pause right where it ends and the next song starts - since there is no queue formed and thus no next song. Is that something that’s possible to do? Am I just not reading your responses thoroughly enough? Sorry to keep bothering you, it’s just something that damages my listening experience. Thanks again.

What I want to know now is whether is a way the next songs won’t be played at all. ... Is that something that’s possible to do?

@GalIsReal

There is always a queue with different songs if you click on play... This behavior is by design.

Thanks a lot for the feedback @GalIsReal and @dee_dirk for providing the guidance on how we currently operate. We'll continue working to improve the experience on this!

Hey there I think I described the same problem.

It is design and meant to be convenient but it's causing trouble as it's out of control of the user.

I suggested to have an auto-play-switch.

Please vote for the idea:

Hi @TurtlePurple thanks for your feedback and for suggesting the idea 🙂

or at least doesn’t automatically play the next tracks in the queue? I gave an example of the search bar, but my question also applies to artist profiles. I assume the queuing function is the same in both cases.

I agree. The whole auto queue thing is sh!t! I’ve stopped using deezer because it’s so ferking annoying and THERE IS NO OPTION TO TURN IT OFF. !!!!!!!!!

MAJOR CONTROLLING BEHAVIOUR FROM DEEZER!!

What I want to know now is whether is a way the next songs won’t be played at all. ... Is that something that’s possible to do?

Great! Add a no-autoplay option … by design. Give us the choice. Please. Honestly, it’s myopic and so bizarre that you don’t. Thank you!!

I agree. Does Deezer get paid for songs by each play?

Thus, forcing us to play sh!t songs we don’t want, is just to generate profits for Deezer!?!?!?

Very Nazi ish…

I’m ditching Deezer soon as my sub expires BECAUSE OF THIS!!!!
