Add to queue should work similar to play next

I often find myself driving with friends and when someone wants to add a song they automatically use “Add to queue” / (Dutch) “Toevoegen aan wachtrij”.

The song is then added at the very end of my favourites playlist (2000 songs) I’m often playing.

The “add to queue” button should work similarly to “play next”, meaning that it should be added to a smaller queue consisting only of songs that have been added via “add to queue” or “play next”.

I’m using Android, but I’m assuming it’s the same for Iphone.

Hi @Funkylady

doesn’t the “Play Next” sort of do what you want? :)   e.g. if you choose song “A” and hit play next it will go in the queue to play next, if you then choose another song “B” and hit play next it will play it next before song “A”.  If you add another song “C” it will then play before B and then A - so this is sort of your new mini queue you’re building :)

Hi @Rob Igo and @Rudi

I understand what you’re saying, but not really.

Example: I scroll through my favourite tracks and come across songs ABC (in order) and want to add them in that order to the queue

  • Using “play next” on A, then B, then C adds them to the queue in the order CBA<rest of the songs>. I then have to go the the queue and individually switch their orders to ABC. This becomes more work the more songs I have in the queue.
  • Using “Add to queue” on A, then B, then C SHOULD create the queue: ABC<rest of the songs>
  • Using “Add to queue” On A, then B, then C SHOULD NOT create the queue: <rest of the songs>ABC.
    • My <rest of songs> often consists of near 2000 songs because I often start playing music from my favourite tracks, meaning I never get to hear the songs I “add to queue”

Hi again @Funkylady

Thanks a lot for coming back and for detailing your feedback.

You're right, at the moment when you add a track to the queue that way it goes to the bottom. I'll be forwarding your comments to our devs so that they're aware of what we're discussing here regarding these features - please let me know the device and app you have so that I can pass it on to them as well :v_tone2:

Hi Rudi, sorry I’m a bit late here but I have been using the Android version on my Oneplus 7T pro and Oneplus 5T. Although I think the same thing happens for each device.
