Where is 'Hear This'?

Multiple bugs, the lack of notifications about new albums of my favorite artists and now was deleted "Hear This"🤤. I was with Deezer for several years and now I’ll look for an alternative.😒

This used to be a thing. I can't really remember, but there was a separate view, that would list all the "Recommended" Albums and new releases based on what you listened to and liked. That thing was amazing, I discovered a lot of music that way.

The current "per genre" discover is really bad in comparison. As many of you know, metal is a very diverse genre, a death metal fan is mostly not gonna appreciate metalcore and nu-metal stuff. An atmospheric black metal fan won't like most brutal death metal bands. It all gets mixed together into the "Metal" genre which is just not good to use.

What I don't understand about all this "moving forward with wonderful new things" talk is how features get removed first, then we wait for years and nothing comes. Usually it is like that.

While on the other hand it should be like this: new discovery section, vastly better than the original appears and the older one vanishes at exactly the same time.
Anyway we are lucky, because there are alternatives...

"Hear this" was the best thing about Deezer. Flow is absolutely awful and has learned nothing about the music I enjoy. I think it's time to go now. Thankfully, we have the BBC in the UK. Their music app is great. And I can listen to 6Music all day long for free!!

Deezer, can you say something about the great successor "Hear this"? When we should expect implementing it?
Already in June, I've extended my unsubscribe period to the end of July - I've had one payment cancelled as compensation.

Hey @JM111

We'll update this topic once we have more concrete information from our developers and Product Team. Thank you for your patience.
Not sure if this the proper place to report a bug.

But I'm using the desktop app for Mac, Version 0.16.6 (0.16.6.334).
When clicking/ accessing to the "Hear this" section just displays a blank page.

It used to work before. Not absolutely sure if this happened right after I updated the app.
If I can help or provide more data in order to fix it, just ask that to me.

Thanks!

Where are you going Deezer? You have killed great feature "Hear this" and simultaneously make new category Equality.

For me it is stupid - but is my opinion - brainwashing on streaming platform. No more words

The gradual disappearance of finding out about new releases from artists I like has been frustrating to say the least. I've missed new releases by months due to this...

I've been with Deezer from what feels like the beginning (must have been around 2012/2013 when I first joined) and I loved the editor recommendations, the ability to keep up to date with the many various artists I love and importantly, discovering new music through Flow and Hear This.

It seems that since joining all of the features I used to love have gradually been removed or made worse than they were before. It's sad as I'm now using Deezer less as a result (I'm sure my usage stats will back that up) but I'm also listening to less new music as well, or discovering through other means.

With most of my friends using Spotify and sharing playlist/tracks etc... through them I'm sad to say that it's now time to jump ship after almost 7 years of being with Deezer. ☹️

Well, I understand the feature has been removed. But the section link/ button is still there in the Desktop app, that for sure is a bug.

Is there a way in that I can "file a bug ticket"? I'm interested in this because I'm facing several bugs that I would like to report also.

Thanks for answering! @Rudi

As a developer myself I find it absolutely ridiculous that company removes the feature that is broadly used by the customers. I guess you have some big morrons who make such destructive decisions. In the end, every product exists FOR CUSTOMERS!
If proper recommendations will not be brought back, I'll switch to competitor and will tell others to do so!
Obviously, "Hear this" being outdated is a mere pretense. There is no replacement to supersede it, so how could it have been obsolete? Flow is just a shuffled selection of your favorites. As a lead software architect, I have few ideas on how to implement and visualize an algorithm to discover new, relevant content without having a major impact on the servers as suggested in a previous, very trenchant comment. "Hear this" was already a good feature the way it was. I'd love to say it baffles me that they remove an apparently popular feature. But this smacks of a political decision. Major record labels and music publishers are not interested in you discovering music by (possibly independent) new artists. They are interested in the revenue stream from royalties and if I, as a music conglomerate, would have any saying in negotiations for usage rights on a streaming platform, I'd probably want you to see "Popular playlists" and "Top charts", too. Or maybe Deezer is just very bad with its customer engagement.

Hey @avgvsto.You can report them to our support team here. The button shouldn't be there, I recommend you to clear your app's cache or simply reinstall it.

Dears,

I think it was not a good idea to remove the section "My feeds" from the App. Deezer should improve musical recommendations as Apple Music does and not going to the other side. Adding to this, I am also experiencing several problems with notifications and activities update. I did a logout but it did not fix the problem. So, I can't see any activity from users that I follow and they use to do a lot. Please, check this on the next update.

Best

Hi @LKN @JM111 @naugtur and everyone else, after internal discussions we can now say that the "Hear This" feature has been permanently removed from our platform. We understand that many users loved this section, but to be able to move forward with new features and design we decided to remove it. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to evaluate changes and make improvements.

We are looking for new ways to have our users discover new music as the feature was based on old technology.

Please refer to these features to discover new music in the meanwhile:
  • Flowtab "Disover"
  • "New releases" on homepage
As mentioned we are open to your feedback and are looking into new way for our users to discover new music. We try to always improve our product and we know this is not a popular decisions, but it was based on how the old feature was built, it would have created problems in the long run.

Please, come on... Honestly, Flowtab "Discover" and "New releases" are horrible services. I am sure you can do better. How about learning with Apple Music? You've got a nice and friendly interface but you should improve a lot the algorithms. I love jazz music. Deezer shows me only 3 or 4 new jazz releases each week. Apple Music shows me 10 to 15. Its is just an algorithm issue. Pay attention on the tags and everythig will run nice.
