Hi All!
Just thought I will share a little tip to improve your flow!

Flow distinguishes us from everyone else.

Improving your Flow

If you’ve only just started with Deezer, Flow only knows what you picked when you signed up. So it might not get it right all the time.
The basic way to improve your Flow, is by adding more content to your favorites ❤ Whether it’s an album, an artist, a track; Flow absorbs it all.

My Music

Flow and My Music work hand-in-hand:
❤️Use your Flow to find music to add to your favorites
❤️Use My Music to add more things to Flow
❤️Building up your library with all sorts of content is the best way to get your Flow to be on top form.

Also, see here how to block an artist on Deezer!

Why are tracks who i decline with “X“ still in my flow? Its really annoying when i want to listen to some good rock music and justin bieber crap comes a million times even when i dont want to have that stuff in my flow. Are the any settings or aomerhing i can make?

Well, in my case this doesn't work sorry. I thought it would, but Flow keeps on playing the most played songs (which reinforces its tendency to play the same ones over and over again). There is some outlier every now and then, but I can say that (at least for the first hour of using it) 80-ish% of songs are the same ones every time.

@Fabio.Martinelli, @tsbozz , please note that we have different tags in Flow. In your cases it might be that some of your favourites have the tag "Hits" or "Popular" or similar. Therefore this tag is added to your profile and that's why other popular tracks are recommended in your Flow. I'm happy to pass your feedback on to the team but as mentioned here, you can improve your Flow an it will learn over time 🙂

@Anja thanks for the prompt reply! As stated above, I've been using Flow for months and the behaviour has not changed no matter how much stuff I favourited (and I am a compulsive clicker so I add a lot of music! 🙂 ).
But you mention tags in Flow... maybe these play some role, but I cannot see them so I don't know. What I notice is that Flow seems to take a its main data source my listening history, much more than all other likes/favourites, and this, I believe, is the source of the problem: someone who uses only Flow will get more and more of the same songs because their number of plays keeps increasing. That's my feedback and my impression. I now discovered the "Shuffle my music" function on the web app (not on Android, unfortunately) and that is already much better because at least I get to listen some of the things I liked but never actually played.
Anyway, long live Deezer! 🙂
Can i do something, to show in FLOW only that tracks, which i did not add to my playlists.

Once I loved Johnny Cash's »One« and Simon & Garfunkel's »Sound Of Silence«. But as long as I listen to the Deezer Flow, it plays both songs (and a handful of other songs) at least one time a day, someday up to three times.
Instead of enjoying the music I have to stay at the machine and push the skip/dislike button.

The dislike button has no function but skipping. A useful function would be »dislike« (ban the track from my flow). Even the promised function to mute the track for 24 h (which is a poor alternative to ban forever) does not work: The Flow plays disliked tracks far too soon (about 2 h) again.
As you can see I don't like it. But it keeps popping up like every single song I have in my playlist is a French one. Just stop. Arrete. S'il vous plait arreter.

I NEED to re-do the list of music genres i like in order to get a better FLOW. How can i do that? Do i need to delete my account and create that again?

Hi @Dênis Estringueto , there is no way to change this, but please see above how to improve your Flow 😉
I don’t like Flow algorithm either. It seems it just can’t pick the very music you may like and to be on the safe side when clicking the unlike button it playbacks the music you already have in your library again and again. Bottom line, there’s only little chance you are going to find out and discover more music you may like and worse, it suggests you “sponsored” tracks. I’ve cleared the cache, added thousands of songs and still listening to some very crap tracks making flow not worth the effort.

I see only one option here: to re-write from scratch the algorithm.

There is no way to improve the Flow for two reasons:

  1. The algorithm of the Flow misunderstoods loving tracks. It should play more songs like them. But what it does is play 20 of them again and again.
  2. The algorithm of the Flow ignores the disliking of tracks. Instead of taking them out of the Flow, it plays them as well again and again. This is the bigger problem, because taste will be formed less of what I like, but most of what I do not like.
I have been here for 5 months, I contacted the support and the community, but nothing has changed. So I will leave Deezer right now.
You are invited to write me, if the problems are fixed and I will probably come back.
Hello Deezer..best music app on the world.
Listen to same songs in some of the genre are beginning to grow roots on my ass. At least the ones i listen to everyday, and i need new songs from genre such as EDM/DANCE alike, keeps me going but i listen to it again and again. And flow did what i meant...keeps playing all the songs i played the last 48 hours or so.....

Please keep it freash ...keeps me moving everyday. 24-7.

I went ahead and marked many of my favorite songs, artists and albums but none of the new things I marked show on my flow. I only get the old ones (and some I did not mark at all) and the music gets very repetitive over a short time.

am I doing something wrong? or is this feature just broken?

Oh.. I see... so back to Spotify then...
Hi,

Since the last 3 weeks flow is also randomly putting songs in my flow which are not part of my favorites. It drives me insane, how do I fix this?

I have already de installed and remake installed the app. Looked through my favorite nrs and artists to double check that there are no other favorites.

I listen mostly to deathcore / metal etc and find it quite annoying if I get a bunch of jazz songs randomly during my workout.

Any advise is appreciated ;)

Hi there, I don't fully understand the issue. It's normal that Flow only plays parts of your favourites + recommendations based on your favourites. What do you mean by "and some I did not mark at all"?

Also it is possible that the tracks that are in your favourites are more likely to be in Flow if you've listened to them more often. But I'm happy to check with the team if that's the case and ask if there's possibility to make this more random.

Also since you haven't been with Deezer for that long, it's normal that Flow can't always recommend new songs. As mentioned in the article here, you need a bigger selection of favourites (as this is the main source for Flow)

It will learn over time and you'll notice that it'll get better and better 🙂

@maartenbuit I checked your Flow and couldn't find a tag other than metal, hard rock, deathcore etc.

I also checked your recent Flow tracks and there was not jazz or even pop in it. When did this happen and can you send me a couple of tracks that were part of your Flow but not at all suitable for you? Please send me at least 3 and I'm happy to check again 🙂
How to reset the flow? Thanks

I am on Deezer for almost 3 months, reaching the moment to decide if I want a full subscription or not.
When I started I checked some of the genres I liked but not all at the time. Flow began playing songs from those genres which was good.
When I saw that it started to bore me (because of the repetitivity of the songs), I started marking (Like) more artists and songs that I liked by manually searching for them.
I added many songs and artists since then but Flow never changed.
still the same amount of like 20 - 30 songs repeating over and over, rarely even suggesting something that I don't know completely and never playing anything from what I have added after the initial settings.

about what you wrote: 'tracks that are in your favourites are more likely to be in Flow if you've listened to them more often' - the main reason I am using the Flow feature is to NOT choose the specific song to hear, so how do you expect me to listen to things more often? the songs I most often hear are the songs that Flow puts on. If that is the algorithm, well... it's really really not too smart.
If items are on my favorites, they should be in my flow. This is not the case.

Am I clear now?
99% of the time I use the flow playlist, as it's always in the past managed to match music that I'd like, and rarely play something that I'd need to "dislike". However recently (in the last week) it's been playing a lot of chart music that wouldn't match any of my previous listening habits. Whenever Flow plays me something I'm not interested in I will dislike it, but it doesn't seem to be getting the hint.
