(Shuffle) Why playlists always start on first song?

I always have shuffle button turned on, but when I click "play" in a playlist, deezer starts playing the first song of the list. The next song will be shuffled, bt the first song will always be the first of the list.

How can I change this behavior?

Hi there 🙂 We've checked with the team and this is intended bahaviour. But we've passed this on as feedback and who knows, maybe it'll change in the future 🙂

I was wondering why this is the case. Isn't it logical to start with a random track when shuffle mode is enabled? I find it quite annoying sometimes because I mostly use shuffle and then I always have to skip the first track because I've heard it too much.

Hi there @just a tech

Seems that you've got a point. Why don't you join our ideas forum and start a conversation there? If other users support a change, we can pass it on to our developers 🤓
Alternatively, can there be a shuffle option among the other options like 'listen next' and 'add to queue' in the additional options menu found beside the play button on a playlist? See attached image.

To enable someone to shuffle a playlist or album on the fly. And for it to randomize the first song played, instead of always playing the first song in the list and then shuffling the rest.

Thanks

Hi @dmutende you don't have to play the first song in order to play a playlist in shuffle mode from the start. If you open any playlist you see a blue button at the beginning of the list. If you hit that button the playlist will play in shuffle right away 😉

Oh. Great. Thanks. Let me try it out

I posted a work-around I use and a request for a real solution in the ideas forum, as suggested by @Rudi:

Shuffle should pick a random song when you start playing a list

I certainly support the notion, she's absolutely right! I cant stand to hear it anymore...waiting in dread, as the chance to finally hit the skip button slowly presents itself..but then ya hear it and its all over. Even just a few seconds of exposure to this beaten down horse, can rendor its victim paralyzed with fear and uncontrollable vomitting. I gotta tell ya, its (almost enough) to make me delete the damn thing. But then you'll just kill the next song and the next, etc...til I cant listen to music ever again! So yeh, shuffle the (*censored*) please!
Every time I push the shuffle it always take only five of my songs on my playlist. They go my order. I wonder if it is because they are the last five songs I chose to have on my list and since the update my Deezer doesn’t seem to find my old songs... it’s very boring just to have five songs.
