Question

Battery drain

This was a sad surprise today. I’m an expert in the Apple ecosystem but this took me by surprise. I went for lunch leaving my iPhone 6 at work and when I returned the battery was dead with the phone off.
I had used Deezer for a short time (approximately one hour) in the morning and stopped it.
I can’t remember if I closed the app or if the iPhone locked the screen with Deezer in the foreground, but anyway there was no music playing.
I just recharged the battery fully and as soon as it reached 100% I took the attached screenshot.

Hi @yayarod01, please go to the settings > App > and clear/empty cache. This might help 🙂 Also, check if you don't have many songs downloaded and you app is a bit heavy! Let me know if it helps!

Hello @Rafael. I have ran into the same situation, my battery got drained by the Deezer app overnight although I was not listening to any music. I am using the latest version (6.39.0.6) on iOS 11.4. I have only 2 albums downloaded and only used the app for a few minutes in the last 2 or 3 days (installed it on Friday). Can you please report this to the dev team? Thanks!

@Kornél Muhi have you tried clearing your cache as well as explained in Rafaels previous answer? 🙂

@Shannon With all due respect I don't think users should be dealing with manually clearing their cache / force close the application every time after using it in order to avoid the app draining their battery. 🙂 Having this problem after such a short usage is particularly worrisome. 😞

@Kornél Muhi oh I agree you shouldn't have to do it every time after using the app. But it should hopefully fix the issue 😉 That's what we're trying here 🙂

@Shannon The problem is once the user notices the issue it's probably too late 🙂 After charging the phone and turning it on it was back to normal (I have force closed the app right after the phone started). Since that it's working fine so it's probably the restart/force close that got it back to normal.
IOS 12 battery stats highlight this issue. In the attached screen shot no audio was playing for the last hour (the selected ‘slice’) but Deezer was still active the whole time.

Anecdotaly triggering a download of new music triggers this behaviour (the download finished a long time ago but the app stays active). I expect whatever flag is set to allow the app to stay background active during the download is not being cleared on completion of the download.

Hi @Tintoy we will pass this on to our developers, thanks for the more detailed description 😉
Have the same problem here expect I'm running Android currently have the Xiaomi Mi A2 on Android Pie and Deezer literally has double the battery drain of something like Soundcloud and I even have the music quality set to the lowest possible have no downloaded music or whatever. The same problem was when my phone was on Android 8.1. And also on my previous Galaxy S7 Edge which was running on Android 8.0 both devices had quite alot of battery drain against something like SoundCloud as I said Deezer at least in my case uses twice as much power as SoundCloud. And I always have the same things on like location and obviously mobile data so there arent any differences that could impact my battery life when compared to SoundCloud so at least in my "testing" its the apps fault and not my phones fault. Hope you can fix this quickly as it is quite anoying most of the time

Hi @timyyy46 sorry about the late reply. Can you tell us which version of Deezer you have currently installed?

This doesn't solve the problem unfortunately
