Automated Recommendations for Premium+ users

When I had a free account I used to select a song and, when it was finished, it would automaticly play another song based on my selection. Now that I'm paying for your service I don't seem to have that option anymore.

I would like to discover new music. Can I get this option back without switching back to a free account?

Since being forced to the 'new look' with no way of getting back, I have noticed that unlike the old page, the new playlist does not populate from my own music on start. Instead, I get a random list of all sorts of music that I have never played, and, have no intention of playing.

Why is the playlist being populated at all on start up? why is it not empty?

Why does this happen in all browsers that I use?

below is the queue with nothing that I have 'liked', nor any artist that I have in my favourites.

Hi there @Adrian.Fox-Kirk

Please check Rafael.'s post above and see if it helps 😉

Will do when I get home. Thanks for the info.

Sorry, already set to off, see screenshot attached. Also, why so many? I had to scroll to the bottom of 428 tracks to find out that it was off.

Tried it on a different machine with Chrome as the browser and get the same 428 track list in the queue, and recommendations still turned off.

Hey @Adrian.Fox-Kirk

Could you please try clearing the browser's cache? Let's see if it helps.

All cache wre cleared, and chrome was a fresh install on the new machine.

You shouldn't get recommendations - not even 428 tracks. That could be simply your queue. Please try playing a small album and pausing it. Restart the app and check the queue once more.

thanks for the response, still no joy. Doesn't matter what I have in my queue when i log out. I've tried logging out with a queue of 2 tracks, clearing everything including history, cache, cookies, and all temporary data too.

The only thing that has changed is that the list is now 440 tracks long, and the first track is new, so it looks like the queue list is different to the previous list,

This didn't happen to me with the old player on the previous website(always returned to the queue as it was before I logged out), only the new site.

As I said before though, not one of the 428 tracks are songs I have ever played or would be interested in playing. It seems like the server is populating the queue at login and I just cannot see why it would choose these tracks even based on my favourites which are quite varied, but tend towards electronica and jazz.

Hi @Adrian.Fox-Kirk do you always log out when you stop listening? I have cleared the cache in our system for your account. Let's see if this helps. In general I would not log out and in all the time. This way the browser remembers. Or are you browsing in private mode?

Generally I don't logout, but just hibernate my machine. It usually happens when I have run an update on my browser, but is not browser specific as I use Chrome, Opera, and Firefox. I do switch between two machines in different rooms, but again, this doesn't seem to have any effect on what I am seeing. The confusion is the tracks that the queue populates, as they are nothing to do with my favourites, or what I listen to.

Just logged out and back in and got the same 440 tracks. I would prefer to have a native client for my OS, but I know that you don't have one for Linux distributions so I have to use the web player instead.

As I said before, I didn't have this issue with the previous version of the website. That one always restored my queue from that last time I had been logged in.

As a side note, I also use the Android app too, but never together.

Hey @Adrian.Fox-Kirk

Have you tried adding music that you like to the queue then closing the browser (without logging out) and then checking the queue in your Android app to see if it's the same?

The queue within the Android app is never reflective of the queue in my browser. There seems to be no link between the two at all.

If I add favourite tracks to my android app, I have to refresh the web browser to then see those tracks that I have added.

I do that a lot as I use Soundhound to locate tracks, then listen within Deezer, then add to favourites. Once done, I can refresh the website and listen to them on my main home setup.

Ok, check this out. Do you see the track quality 'equaliser' button on the browser/desktop app? There's a button there for synchronised queue-list.
And on Android, you can also find it here: settings -> audio settings -> sync queue -> on

Double-check these for me and let me know 😉

Hey @Rudi , sorry but there is no option for queue syncronisation on my app or on the web page.

See the lower right corner? That's all I get. Also, this is what I get with the Android app.

I have no other options and cannot find any queue sync options anywhere else.

Moreover, I do not want to sync the queues as my listening habits when on my phone are quite different than when I am at home.

I have been looking at the API,and was wondering if I can get the queue list using the API to see if bypassing the website has any effect on the results returned. I was planning on doing my own web interface on a web server at home anyway, so If I can help fault find by running an API query, it would help me to better understand what is going on.

That's odd, you should see the option at the very bottom of the Audio Settings on Android.
About the web version, I'd say it could be because of the browser version - I've only tried via Chrome.

No option under Chrome, Firefox or Opera. Although Opera 58 seems to show a single track from my recently played in flow when I login.

None of them remember the queue state prior to logging out.

how is the queue populated? Is it from a database entry, or from an algorithm?

Hi again @Adrian.Fox-Kirk

I've now got to the bottom of it. The queue sync functionality is being tested - it's not available yet.
So I've added your feedback to the subject so that devs are aware of what kind of impact we can have. I need to ask you to bear with us a bit longer and hopefully there will be an alternative about the queue. I'll keep this topic updated!

So, do the devs know why my queue is being populated with over 400 tracks then? I'd be interested to understand why.

They won't specifically looking into one account but I'll let you know if I find out more.
