  • Native app can be smoother and faster
  • Native app can look more nature if use OS design framework and be integrated into OS (like Windows 11 quiet + Spotify)
  • Sometimes I want to turn off browser
  • Sometimes web browser crash (because of bad web page) and I loose my music
  • Sometimes I’ve dosen of tabs - I don’t want to search where is a webplayer to change/stop/pause song

On the other hands - Deezer integrated in Opera sidebar works excelent! In case I don’t forget to unclose Opera browser 🤷‍♂️

Offline support is a big use case for desktop

To send audio to dedicated output, so the various system beeps don’t come from my hi-fi speakers disrupting the music.

Offline Support is a must so I prefer Desktop also easy to switch between the desktop app and other apps (when you're working form home) instead of a web browser tab (though I know you can make a separate browser window but it’s less confusing just having Deezer as it’s own app).

A pop out “stay on top of all windows at all times” mini player for desktop would be great ;)

I still have the impression (maybe placebo) that the desktop app runs smoother than the web player and needs less system resources.

I also prefer having my main music source not within several browser tabs, but in the taskbar at the bottom with its own icon to start or stop it (even if Deezer doesn’t stop then which it rather should). 😉

Offline downloading and playing ability is important for users carrying their laptops around, e.g. on vacation with no internet, or for users with a bad internet connection altogether.

For some unknown reason the web player likes to switch languages, so you have to know how to find the button to get your language back, otherwise you might freak out.

One advantage of the web player is that you can copy & paste any browser clipboard term into search with the mouse while the desktop app does not, you have to use the key combination Ctrl+V for that.

I would like to see improvements for DAC users who want to pick their preferred method of sending the unaltered “bit-perfect” HiFi sound to their gear and not through the Windows mixer, so they finally stop ranting about it. I guess this is easier to implement with a desktop player than in the browser.

Desktop app is better because it’s a separate app functioning outside of the browser. The downside is that you create another security hole because of this.

I like the desktop but I noticed there is no way to NOT MINIMIZE TO TRAY.  How has this not been implemented yet?  I read a request for this on a post that is almost 3 years old and nothing.

Hi. Im unable to load page on my downloaded music

I used to use the desktop app a lot however switched to the web player.  First it was because an issue I had with the desktop client but later because I wanted to use discord extension Stayed with the web player ever since . That being said I don’t have any specific preference

I’m quite new to Deezer. The desktop app is an absolute MUST for me, I hate using a browser for this. For several reasons. And I think the most revelant reasons have already been mentioned by others, so I’ll not repeat them here.

Talking about apps, I'd like to mention my interest in Deezer to become available on more cars, especially Teslas. Might be my next car. ;-)

Direct audio output (ASIO or WASAPI) is most important thing for desktop app.

The native app works more effectively than the browser version.

Can you give us a bit more insight on what is more effective on the desktop app,

that you really don’t find effective on the browser version, please? Thanks a lot 🙏🏽

It’s isolated. I don’t have to have lots of tabs open. It saves resources and electricity.

How come?

Because even though I believe it's Deezer's top requested feature and has been for several years they haven't bothered to develop one...

Yes there is. An unofficial work-around released and supported by a private individual who did it because Deezer couldn't be bothered to despite this being, I believe, their most requested feature.

@Yula requested feedback on whether users prefer to use their web or desktop interface. Deezer does not have a Linux app to comment on, as I noted, and any credit for the unofficial version rightly belongs to @aunetx

Hi Rob,

I believe you are suggesting something known as a "widget". And  I'm pretty sure that some android OS versions are already loaded with capabilities for installing the Deezer widgets in various sizes useful for tablet & larger screened devices running Android OS in some edition or other. So check from your device homescreen settings for your widget options. I just do long tap hold on a vacant area of the screen and sometimes that engages the widget options for personalizing and gaining even faster access to the information you need.

Kind regards

BB

P.s. sorry-was gonna be a quick note to let you know about the widget options, must have veered off on a tangent.

You should download from Windows Store podcast app Podurama.

It’s just PWA, but works perfect. Better then electron based Deezer. I think it’s a good possibilites for your developers.
