Hi there, I apologise for the very late reply. We are currently going through the ideas forum where you initially posted your question. I have moved to the music forum instead.

The dates you see on Deezer refer to the dates when the album was published on Deezer, not when it was published in general 😉

Thx for your reply,

but this answer does not correspond to reality, in fact, some discs have dates prior to the creation of Deezer.
Why?

PS: and in any case, to music lovers, it is not necessary to know the loading date on deezer.

We working on adding the correct release dates to albums. But it will take a while to update the "older" ones. Hopefully you'll see the actual release dates of all albums soon! 🙂

I absolutely agree. We need to know the REAL release dates. For a music lover it's a relevant information. Hope to see this fixed asap

It's already available on iOS 😃 When you open an album you can slide the information at the top to get the release date, length, number of tracks, fans and most popular song. It should come for Android users in the future too, no ETA yet, but we'll keep everyone posted 😉

@Ana. No, It’s available YOUR release date but not the REAL release date of the album. The examples are countless. For example Pain of Salvation’s Remedy Lane is reported to be a 2012 album but has been released in 2002 (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remedy_Lane); another example? The dark Side of the Moon has originally been released in 1973 but in Deezer is reported to be a 2011 album only because in 2011 has been remastered...believe me if I say that these are only a couple of examples...

Hey Lorenzo, yes, for some albums the information is still being updated but in general it should be the actual release date. But as it's a big catalogue it might be a while before everything is corrected.

@Ana. Ok if you’re actively working on this...hope to see relevant and quick improvements
In the exploration of one genre of music, for instance, jazz, appears the latest releases of jazz, but surpringsinly not appear all the new releases......
But those Cds, yes they are in the collection ¡¡¡
An example:

The CD "Universal Citizen" has been published the 20/04/2018 but not appears in the new releases ¡¡¡

What is the reason for that?
How can I be informed of the latest releases, because if CDs come out and Deezer do not put them on the "new releases" panel ?

Hi there, sorry about that. We do not always have every album that comes out as a CD available on Deezer right away. The release dates can be different than the one of the CD.

We are happy to forward your feedback however 😉
But yes, there are new releases CDs in Deezer ... that it happens is some CDs never come out in the Section "New releases" ¡¡¡
Search the album "Universal Citizen" for instance. This album is in Deezer since the 20th of april but never appeared in New Releases in Jazz ¡¡¡ It is a pitty isn'it
This has been broken for some time and I feel it's time for me to switch services if this is not fixed very soon.

Example 1: New Releases on the homepage is showing only somewhat recently released music from popular artists in my country. I DO NOT LISTEN TO MUSIC FROM MY COUNTRY. Therefore, this is totally useless for me. Furthermore, this section is updated maybe once a month so it's useless for that reason as well.
Expected behaviour: Either show ALL new releases for all genres, sorted by release date, or show releases for genres personalized for the user, again sorted by release date.

Example 2: When I go to the New Releases section and select a genre I like (for example, Movie, TV and Game soundtracks) and then click New Releases again (kinda pointless but whatever), the releases present on that page are DEFINITELY NOT ALL new releases that exist on Deezer (read as: there are albums on Deezer that were released maybe a week ago but do not show up in this section AT ALL). Furthermore, they are not sorted by release date AND they contain releases from 2016.
Expected behaviour: I want to see all new releases available on Deezer for the selected genre, sorted by release date.

Seriously, Deezer? How can this be so wrong?
This is NOT a suggestion to pass on to your team. This used to work, therefore, it is a bug and it's been ages since this worked correctly.

Hi there 🙂 Thanks a lot for the feedback. May I ask what device you are using? I just checked on an iphone and and when I click on the category "new releases", I can see popular releases and a "list" of different genres which I can click on. Those are also sorted by release date, starting with the latest releases.

You are right that the category is not showing all releases and I'm happy to pass this on as feedback, but it's intended to not show all releases, but rather popular ones. I can't tell you the exact reasons and will of course check with the team if there's info about this, but I assume that it might be too much data to handle.
The problems are both on Android and Windows PC (browser and app, both).

I am attaching 2 screenshots. One clearly shows that the albums are NOT sorted by release date.

The second shows an album for Avengers (quite popular, wouldn't you say?) that is completely missing from the New Releases section.

Please let me know because that is bullshit. How do you designate which new release is "popular" or not - when they are new and, therefore, you have no listening statistics?

Hi Everyone, just a quick update. There are some albums that the date does not match the actual physical release. We have raised this issue with our devs and they are looking into it to get it fix. Thanks for reporting this to us!

@Rafael.
Not "some albums" but "tons of albums". I could enumerate quite a few but it's impossible to do it here. Start with Genesis, Rush and Pink Floyd...
Jesus fuck, my complaint is not about the difference between release date and physical release! The problem is that there was a functionality that you removed - showing ALL new releases for a given genre, sorted by release date. I do not understand why my thread was moved here. And I honestly don't even care anymore. Moving to Spotify, your support is laughable. Been a paying user for years. Bye.

Didn't even notice that functionality. BTW I agree. My complaint has been raised many times in the past but still many discographies are a real mess. Unsubscribed, sorry Deezer but you don't take care of your customers. Not to mention the rest of the issues...gapless playback etc etc

Any updates on this issue? I recently checked (for ex.) AC/DC discography and all the releases are dated 2015...C'mon is that hard to change a couple of numbers?
Hi Folks
The Release date issue is really a pain for all music lovers.
I went to Deezer because much mor of my favorite (not mainstream) music is here. But you seriously have to fix this. I see from the thread, that it has not changed this year.
Why don't you mark the physical release dates (i.e. in color) to seperate from your deezer dates?
Regards
Roric

Agree. This is really pain. I like to go to some musician's discography and listen to their albums from first one. And instead sorting them by release date I must open their discography page (on wiki or anywhere else on internet) and then find that album. Hopefully that it will be original (or remastered) not some de-lux edition
I started using Deezer because of the free 4 months Pringles Promo. I've been a Spotify user for one year. The only good thing so far about Deezer: They have different agreements with the big music labels making some albums that are unavailable on Spotify available in Europe.
That album release date problem is really annoying. Looking at Johnny Cash's discography, there are so many albums that originally came out in the 50s, 60s and 70s that Deezer says were released in the last couple of years, because they were remastered a few years ago. Some albums say they were released a couple of years ago, because that's the date they were put on Deezer, I guess. Some albums have no release date at all. A remastered album has the date it was put on Deezer. The same album in its original form, not remastered has no release date at all. Same thing with other artists, that have a huge music catalog.
As far as I know, the music labels in this case Sony uploads all their music to the streaming services including album covers and other data. Deezer's system must have been programmed very poorly, if those dates were messed up like that on such a large scale.

There's no gapless playback, so listening to live albums sucks, because of the short pause when the next track starts playing.

There's no way to rearrange songs on a playlist on the android app.

One thing's for sure, when those free 4 months are up, I'm back with Spotify. Maybe even sooner.
I prefer the music catalog of Deezer, because much more of what I listen to is available in Europe. Featurewise Deezer has to improve a lot.

I am currently comparing deezer to spotify once again after a long time and i must admit that the new ui is superior to spotify. What i really dislike is that deezer still has the problem with original release date. Wrong dates appear in spotify too, but not so massively.

Please solve that problem.

First step could be: if you don't know the original release year so nevertheless don't show any other year (year of appearing in deezer or of mastering)

Second step: What do you think of giving people the feature to tag their collected albums in library manually and/or by a service like musicbrainz?

Third step: Take your time and clean farther the mess of album release year in the overviews

Hi there @Krs Sns

Thanks a lot for the feedback. We've been working hard to improve our catalogue metadata but it's a process which is currently taking some time. But we have plans to improve this process still this year. So please bear with us a bit longer 👍🏼
