Tab S4 draining battery issue

Hi. I have noticed that my Tab S4 has a battery conflict with Deezer because, after I use the app, the battery drains fast and never stops draining until I restart my tablet. When I check my tablet to see what apps are consuming more battery, Deezer looks normal but it’s not. I can have Deezer installed and my battery works fine, but the problem starts when I open it.

My tablet has Android 10 and the problem started in May (I travelled to another country in that dates; I don’t know if it has something to do with it). I also use Deezer in my S10+ with Android 11 and it works normal. I reinstalled the deezer app in my tablet but the problem was exactly the same.

Hello @mleonc92

That should be related to some settings on your Deezer app/device.

Based on the information you provided, could you please perform these troubleshooting steps:

If you are using the battery saving mode on your device, turn it off while you are carrying out this test.

Go to your device settings ➡️ Apps & Notifications ➡️ Deezer ➡️ Storage & Cache ➡️ Clear Cache
Open the Deezer app ➡️ Gearwheel in the top right corner ➡️ Log out at the bottom of the page
Turn off then on your device
Log in to Deezer
Stream a few songs and navigate in the app

⚠️ Your Downloaded music on Deezer will be deleted, but you can easily download your favourite playlists and albums from your Favourites.

Alternatively, have you tried the Deezer BETA version for Android to see if the issue also occurs in there? https://www.deezer.com/beta/newandroid

Let us know how it goes, please.

Enjoy Deezer! :loud_sound:

Thanks for the feedback @mleonc92 did you do a fresh install? And by that I mean uninstalling it, restarting the Tab and then redownloading the app. If yes, please forward the exact version of the app so that we can have a look :relaxed:

Hi @Rudi. I did a fresh install and the battery was ok until I reproduced some songs. I have noticed that if I force stop the app, the battery is good again. Previously I had tried disabling deezer from been able to consume battery when it’s not use, but that didn’t fix it. Force stopping it does. The version in my Tab S4 is 6.2.35.62.

Hi. Thank you for the information. I will follow the steps and try the beta version if needed. Something else I discovered with my problem is that if I put Deezer app in deep sleep, after some hours of having a bad battery with deezer songs already closed, the battery gets good again without me having to force stop it.

Hi. After some days of normal use, I can confirm that my Deezer app is now completely normal after the clear cache steps. Thank you.

It may not be Deezer to blame.

The consumers electronic is made to not last. I have A40 phone from Samsung and battery drains as fast as time goes by. Phone not older than year and 3mo. I watched the battery usage and 1st was Sony headphones app 20%. I think it’s because they spy on me and depending if I walk, or stay, or visit area or sit in a bus, they change settings like how much they remove noise from outside.

I can’t even leave a house without 10000 MAH power bank now. Not especially if under 50%. It will be zero in a matter of hour. And they say I have good technology in my hand.

Modern tablets and phones are crap. Battery is designed to perform good about a year.

I did remove it, just to notice battery is not that much better.

Just like anyone else, you’d think go buy new phone. Sad, but true.

In your case maybe tablet.

You can not change a battery. With every charge it will decline. I was looking that DNA will pay €56 for my A40 phone with 3000 MAH battery, but then I’d buy new Samsung with 5000 MAH battery.

I still refuse to do so, but eventually if my phone just turns off when 20% outside in one second.

I see that battery could be defective.

There is no Deezer to blame unfortunately, I even removed most of the apps and still.

Have you solved your issues with just Deezer reinstall?

Perhaps I will try that next.

Internet is full of complaints like these:

My Samsung Galaxy J3 worked great for 18 months the battery life lasting several days. Suddenly the battery began draining 50% in a day with no change in level of usage and no app being the culprit. A new battery had no impact on the problem. A local repair shop confirmed the problem is not software. Has Samsung caused this problem so i have to buy a new phone or are they just making phones that are designed to fail so i have to buy a new phone. My last phone lasted several years.

Yes. I followed the steps they gave and my battery is good. I knew it was not the battery because in airplane mode the battery was ok. Unfortunately, in Battery settings there was no mention of Deezer been the cause of the problem. So I spent weeks trying to figure it out which app was.

Thanks, I try to see if I manage to locate my issue with battery.

When I will have time, I will reinstall a whole phone!

It seems however that modern electronics are somehow bad to hold battery.

At least Apple was doing that, when after update they technically slow down phones updated.
