Swiping gestures animation have become heavy and laggy in favorites playlist

As the author of the above topic also noticed, the swipe up/down animation in favorites playlist has become kinda slow and sluggish, compared to doing the swipe up/down gestures in other playlists/albums. And navigation in favorites playlist has become heavier in general. Less fluid, less responsive.

Everything else besides favorites playlist the animation works instantly. But in favorites playlist it's slow and sluggish, almost with a pause. It appears like it's lagging, when trying to perform the animation. The app performance is definitely degraded, as the user above pointed it out.

I recorded the comparison. See for yourself.

First swipe up/down animation in playlists/albums:

Second, swiping animations in favorites playlist. Noticably slow, sluggish, lagging, and feels heavy. You clearly see it with the track cover having trouble to go into minimized mode, and vice versa:

If you are unable to see the difference with this comparison, please test it yourself. Swiping up/down gestures the now playing track in favorites playlist have become heavy and laggy. Please look into this issue and escalate it with the devs. It makes the app less enjoyable than before. I'm switching full time to YouTube Music until this issue is fixed and sorted out, and the app performance restored.

Thanks, as usual @Harmonie :relaxed:

It'll take time but I told you that improving the Android app is a priority this year - but it takes a buck load of development. Hang in there and obviously, keep providing on your feedback because it's always welcome and it always finds the right home here at Deezer :thumbsup_tone2:

I also called up for our devs to check the topic from @Axouuu, thanks to your mention - just in case.

@Rudi I'm reporting on the same issue as @Axouuu

This app performance degradation in favorites playlist has occured just very recently, and it needs to be fixed asap obviously. I've been refusing to use Deezer since almost a week because of it, and I will continue to not use it, until this issue is resolved and the previous app performance in favorites playlist reinstated. It feels so heavy and laggy as I mentioned above. It wasn't like this.

We increased the limit of favourites and encountered some obstacles along the way, so I personally think this could be connected to your experience at the moment @Harmonie

I invite to keep the app updated and to test it once in while to see if you notice any improvements - thank you for your support :thumbsup_tone2:

It's been over a month since this issue occured, and it still hasn't been fixed yet. With every new version I'm checking it out and crossing my fingers that it got fixed, but everytime I get disappointed.

I can't use Deezer this way. Please fix this urgent bug!

Hey @Harmonie

Thanks for your utmost patience. We're currently doubling our efforts to get the app ironed out. Please bear with us!

@Rudi @Carole Thebaud

With the latest update today,Version 6.2.31.68 the swiping animations have become worse, and even more laggy than before.

Really? @Harmonie that's such a shame, apologies for the experience.

I'll pass it on.

Is there any way you can try a fresh install to see if it makes a difference? Totally understand if you don't want to, and don't worry, we're still working on improving this but it's an ongoing job.

There's no way I would do a fresh install. Would loose over 220 GB of downloads, and I don't want to redownload all of that again. Really out of question.

I suspect that this malfunction might have to do with the favorites playlist being upped to 10'000 tracks recently? Because the swiping animation issue is only happening with the favorites playlist from my observation.

I've just been avoiding Deezers Android version since almost 2 months (since this issue appeared) because I usually use my favorites playlist alot. And since that has been near unusable and a really bad experience, I've switched over to YouTube Music full time, and been using it since then.

I'm still waiting for Deezer devs to finally tackle this issue, and reinstate the smooth swipe up/down animation for now playing track. My android phone is the platform where I use Deezer 99% of the time.

That's in the works right now, @Harmonie - devs are working on improving performance and reliability. So that's pretty much the focus of a lot of teams for the next few months. Hopefully it can get better so that you can switch it back and enjoy. I'll keep you posted!

@Rudi

I just want to make clear, that this particular issue needs to be fixed immediately, and not over the course of the next few months.

This is not about improving Deezer, but about reinstating smooth animations for favorites playlist. All the Devs need to do, and this doesn't need months of work.

At this point I'm honestly tired of repeating myself, and I have my doubts that Deezer even realizes or cares about the length of this malfunction that they added to the app.

Just fix what you've created. Can't be that difficult, and the issue is easily reproducible.

I think you misunderstood me @Harmonie it's actually being worked on, the work started before you raised this issue. What I meant is that we're improving the performance of the app as a whole, not just that bit. That's the focus during this quarter :relaxed:
