Problems with Chromecast on Android

Hi,

I am using deezer to cast to chromecast audio at home but it is very temperamental. It stops playing sporadically and sometimes skips like it's a CD with scratches on. Do you know how to resolve this to make them work better together.

Hi @simon.tomlinson, what device are you using Deezer on and does this only happen when connected to Chromecast?

Hi Anja,

It happens from my Samsumg Galaxy S6 and also my Samsung tablet.

It only happens when connected to chromecast.

Please disable the app optimisation/ Battery saving mode on the devices and reconnect to Chromecast. Does that help?

This is a well known issue with Deezer. One of the reasons I got on deezer and to this day it doesn't work.

@KingPrince, does it behave exactly the same way for you? If so, what's the device you're using?

@Anja I have tried using it with my Galaxy Note 4 on Android Marshmallow and now my Mi Max 2 on Nougat. It always cuts within 15 seconds of the song. I would think that it is my internet but I can stream HD content without an issue and I use Deezer daily without any issues. It is only the chromecast feature that is not working at all.

Edit: I have the 2nd Gen Chromecast connected to its own power source.

That's really strange. I've tested it and it worked fine for me with a samsung phone. I'm of course happy to pass it on to our team. It's possible that I will need more info about the devices. In that case I will get back to you 🙂
Same problem. Samsung s7 edge, deezer freezes when asked to cast to chromecast audio. Happens 99% of the time. Worthless without it

We are still not able to reproduce the issue. What Android and what Deezer version are you using on the phones?

Yep. Using Chromecast is very hit and miss from any device I use: HP laptop, Lenovo pad, Huawei phone. Deezer freezes or cannot move on to the next track. Ultimately nothing plays and you need to shut down and start again. This has only started, in my experience, in the last couple of months.

It is frustrating and problematic enough to make me reconsider my subscription.

And this happens on all devices or are the problems different on the different devices. I would need more details about what issue happens on what device to be able to pass this feedback on to the technical team. I was not able to reproduce it
I can cast to a chromecast audio no problem, however I get the same issue one either my phone or iPad.

Play 'flow', all good no issue with the music, but the deezer app looses sight of whats playing, can't skip tracks, then the app totally has no idea whats playing, so open deezer again, the original stream is still playing and the app now wants to start a second stream to the local speaker, totally different from what is still playing to the chromecast.

Anyone else seen this?

Hi Chris, regarding the iPad: Please get the latest Deezer app version (6.31.) and then try again :)
Regarding the Android phone: Does this happen immediately or only after the phone went to lockscreen/sleep mode?
Hi, will get the latest iPad app and yes on android it gets confused as soon as focus goes to any other app or after a lock etc.

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right place to post bug requests.
I'm using Deezer for a month, and a lot of the times i'm casting music to my Google Home Mini. It's plays well, and I can even control the playback with voice commands (next track, what's playing, etc).

Thing is, the Deezer app which started the cast loses track with the casting device once the phone screen turns of.
It either does not sure something is playing, or shows the last track before screen turned off.
Pressing the cast button, shows that track as well.

I should mention Google Home app shows the correct track continuously (x now playing on Deezer).

Anyone else has this issue?
It's appreciate it if this is passed to Dev team to be fixed.

P.S. still waiting for full Google Home integration 😉

I should add, i think the problem relates to Flow somehow.
When I played my favorites the app kept in sync with Google Home.

Its been 8 days now on this thread and still no word on a fix for this issue. I have emails from Deezer support from January 2017 on the issues Deezer has with the Chromecast Audio device. Frequently crashes and fails to function correctly. Still not fixed, yet back then they said they knew about it and that it would be resolved.

First I had to explain to Deezer that the issue is the Chromecast Audio device not the TV device.

I always read the updates in Google Play to the Deezer app, seldom are they bug fixes and never about Chromecast and its been over a year now.

Chromecast Audio is a great device for linking HFi to your phone and if you have HiFi Deezer makes for great lossless music.

Using a bluetooth speaker is fine, Deezer works perfectly.. Issue only exists on Chromecast Audio. Yet the BBC iplayer Radio app works perfectly with Chromecast Audio, and same steaming rate. My phone also casts fine with Chromecast TV to watch HD films, all using the same wifi.

I have a Galaxy S7 edge, previously an S5 and same problems. All apps and devices up to date. Tried all the usual fixes, none work, the issue is with the Deezer app itesely. Lost of web posts about this issue.

Don't want to switch app as I like Deezer music quality and choice. But its well overdue for Deezer to fix this. Deezer can you finally please pay proper attention to this issue.

I've had similar issues so I'll post my experiences here as well as I think it's relevant to the discussion...
I have been using Tidal HiFi and Google Play Music (long time subscriber) and decided to try out Deezer to see how it compares. My main method of streaming is via Chromecast Audio, using toslink cables to connect to external DACs and various other HiFi gear around the house (over a dozen Chromecast devices on the same 2.4/5GHz networks).
The reason i mention this is because both Tidal and Google Play Music have worked flawlessly when it comes to casting. However, the Deezer app has not even given me the option to cast since day one! (The cast icon won't even appear in the app).
Deezer support was very unhelpful: their only suggestion was to make sure that my phone was connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Chromecast devices and not to my mobile/GSM network. Really Deezer? You didn't think an experienced Chromecast user would know that already?
Anyways, back to the original issue - I don't think Deezer supports Chromecast Audio at all from where I'm sitting and not sure I'm ever gong to try them out again based on their poor customer support.
Sorry Deezer, you'll have to do a lot better than this to gain and keep paying customers that need Chromecast support.

@BWD I just checked your account and we do support Chromecast in the US. You shouldn't have issue. Any chance you could test it with your account on another device? Just to see if there's a problem with Deezer and the network or with the device and Deezer?
@Anja I tested it on a new Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact and it worked without issue. Looks like my BlackBerry PRIV isn't supported by the Deezer app (maybe it's the encryption that throws things off?).
Either way, thanks for your prompt response. I look forward to testing out Deezer's HiFi service...
