Premium user: Moved to SD card, now wont stay logged in, keeps asking about cookies, cant download songs anymore

I ran out of space on my phone memory, so I put in an sd card and formatted it as an extension of the internal memory, then moved Deezer to the memory card, which meant I lost the link to my downloaded music. No problem, happy to download again. Then it started logging me out constantly and asking me about cookies regularly. So I uninstalled and re-installed on the SD Card. Despite having to now log in EVERYTIME I go into Deezer(if its on the SD card) I still cant download a single song. It starts downloading, then when I go back in, shows nothing downloaded. Streaming in South Africa is not always an option as our network is not great.

Steps I’ve taken:

-Reinstalled numerous times
-flushed out Deezer files in Android\Data\deezer.android.app
-set permission for storage in android app settings
-changed data options from inside app(now can only see internal storage unless I move the whole app to sd card from android app options)
-upped smart cache storage

I want to ideally do 1 of 2 things,
1- run the whole app and downloaded songs from the SD card
2 - have the app on the internal and downloaded songs on SD card.

Hi @Alblinux

If you have Deezer on the internal and your new formatted card installed, under settings (I’m not sure which one, maybe Settings>App Settings) there should be an option to choose where Deezer downloads the songs (you can choose the SD card).  I used to have an SD card in my old Android and this worked fine…  see if you can do it this way.  Also make sure you have *some” free memory on your internal memory, anything less than 1gb and your phone will start acting weird (mine did!).

The screen he has attached show no option for this.

I have a SD card and the app shows it so.. I think it's a problem with him special configuration

Hi @Rob Igo

I have it currently installed on the internal but I have no option to download the songs(as per attachment) to the SD card, if I download them they go straight to the internal storage.
However if I move the app to the SD Card I then get the option to change the storage, but the constant logging off, cookie errors and I cant actually download there either. If I set to download(app on SD card), it starts, but when I open up Deezer again all the songs downloaded are gone as well as the the fact I need to log in again.

It's probably due to have the SD formatted like an internal data of the mobile phone. I suggest you to format the SD like and external storage and not an internal ones. The app should recognise it.

If not there is a problem with permissions I think so.. better to format all mobile phone including your SD card.

SD card is not intended to allocate apps itself . There are tweaks of manufacturers that after using it a few apps fails.. so I recommend you to format all (,before backup your data) and put on the internal storage the apps formatting the SD like an external storage . The Deezer app should recognise it like an external card and you would be able to put there the music

Hi @Alblinux

Thanks for your advice, I have done the steps you suggested. I started out with a brand new, high speed SD card and formatted it. I have cleared cache and uninstalled as well as uninstalled and then cleared cache numerous times. And then moved across. I have also tried with a friends SD card.

The very first attempt I had everything on the internal memory, installed the formatted SD card and then moved the whole app across and lost the downloaded songs. Then I tried to download again and then it started logging me out and not keeping the downloads.

Starting to think I just cant have nice things…..

The best option is to:

remove cache

remove personal data

unninstall the app

reinstall(sometimes this helps and the other 2 no)

in the sd make  a full clean( is better to format it ) or at least to try with another sd.

After this you would be able to move content to your sd without problems. I would say to put the sd in your default media BEFORE anything else.

Hi @Aliwop

I’d run the app from the phone (not the SD card).  I’d then choose where to download songs (choosing the SD Card) under settings.

the Deezer app itself won’t take up much space and the songs will be on the card via th app :)

Let us know how you get on :)
