Jumping and skipping songs on Huawei phones


I've recently switched to Huawei P20 PRO (couple of weeks). Songs are now jumping like a good old scratched CD or even skipping to next one altogether. This is definitely annoying.

It is happening right now, while I'm writing, after uninstalling Deezer and downloading latest version from Play Store (as suggested in similar posts). Smart Cache is 20 MB, space allocated for Smart Cache is 11.1 GB. Music is streaming in "Standard" quality over 4G, speedtest results: DOWN 18.4 Mbps, UP 1.22 Mbps, ping 25 ms, jitter 8ms.

I'm positive this is not a network speed issue. Never happened before, not even while driving in areas with worse coverage than the one I happen to be in right now.

Huawei P20 PRO (CLT-L09), Android 8.1.0, kernel 4.4.103.
Deezer version: latest available on Play Store.
Deezer subscription: Premium.

I updated to version 6.1.1.55 and then reinstalled the app. Since then (almost 24 hrs) it's running without skipping. Fingers crossed

Hi there, sorry about that. Have you tried to clear the cache in the settings of your device by going to Deezer under Apps manager?
I have a Huawei p10 and its started doing this for songs over the past four days now. How do I fix this??

I've tried pretty much anything: uninstalling app, clearing cache from Apps Manager, clearing data from Apps Manager and permutations of these operations. Streaming seems to stay flawless for some time only, then it goes back to skipping randomly.

This is getting overly frustrating. I've sticked to Deezer for some time (never actually subscribed to any other streaming services), but I'm now seriously considering switching.

I have Exactly the same problem with my mate 20 pro! I've used deezer my old phone for years (galaxy s7 egde) and never had problems like that.

I've tried everything mentioned in your post and nothing helped, gets better for a short while and starts doing the same thing again...

Dose anyone have a solution?

I'm not clear what this video should show. Do you need it to confirm I'm correctly clearing cache and the likes? Or would you like me to try and capture a song skipping?

Hi there. It would be good to get a video showing the song skipping, then we could send it to our devs to have a look. We are currently investigating this, but in the meantime, please check your Android power management in the setting of you device and check if Deezer is listed there. Thanks!

I have the Huawei mate 20 Pro and the songs on deezer keep skipping. It's the same songs in the same place every single time. Some songs are fine and others aren't, even if they have been on my play list for years and never had the problem before.
I have previously had Samsung phones and never had an issue. Today I logged in on my husbands phone (Samsung s8) and the songs played perfectly fine on his.
I've uninstalled and redownloaded deezer this afternoon and downloaded all the songs rather than streaming, cache all clear etc. Yet the songs are skipping again!!

It's driving me mad, I use this app ALOT, in the car, shower, in bed at night... Even now whilst studying I'm trying to use it.

Not to be dramatic but I feel lost without my music on so would really appreciate this problem getting fixed ASAP else I will have to try a different streaming site, which I don't want to do as I have used deezer for years and always really liked it
Hi, for some time now I've been having problems with deezer.
I have a family subsription and the problems appear only on my device.
The phone is huawei p20 lite and problems are:
1) music from deezer doesn't stop when I close the app
2) I get the "content not loading" message all the time, with music stoping in the middle of the song.
3) music is glitching often and/or skips some parts of the song

Hi @Caramell and @Alex.S we are aware of the problem and have forwarded this to our developers who will investigate. We are very sorry about this, it appears to affect Huawei phones only. At this stage we can only kindly ask for patience 🙂
Was any progress made on this problem as mine is still jumping in the middle of songs, regardless if they are downloaded or not. Thanks
Created an account to let you know songs skipping on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro jumping like an old record used to is not Deezer but the phone itself, this has happened to many since the last update who don't have Deezer.

This is a real problem as i just upgraded from samsung to huawei.

This phone has many bugs, the only recommendation anywhere is Factory Reset which is a pain who wants to do that, and f it continues contact who you purchased it from under warrenty, to be honest apart from the high camera MB it's a very buggy phone, Back to Samsung for me next time.

I've found if you remove all media from your phone, music, pictures and videos which I did ready for a factory reset the music jumping stopped, and not until ALL media was removed did it stop, it still has the other bugs however so I suspect it will continue when everything is built back up again.
Nope. Brand new phone. Only app i loaded was deezer. Skipped from word go.
I don't have Deezer, and had the phone since pre release, it's been an issue since the last update so as you have put Deezer in new and have the problem it still points to the last update on the phone as that's the common demoninator here, it still doesn't point to Deezer and a Factory Reset will only put the latest firmware in. You can stop the play services and roll it back to a previous version which I will do if it continues, previous firmware version are available online but NOTE you have to use the right one for your phone/carrier so do it right or risk bricking your phone, don't rush in to it if you don't understand it, until Hwawei fix the issue your latest firmware in my opinion will still cause the problem.
Hi guys.
It doesn't matter what I do when I download an album or single it skips numerous times Throughout the song. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it has nothing to do With stability of my broadband.
I'm using a hawuei mate p20 Pro.
Can anybody help please.

Hi! I have a Huawei P20 Lite, bought it about 10 days ago and the problem appeared as soon as I installed Deezer. Never had this issue in my previous phone Samsung J5. I will wait a few days until this case is solved, otherwise I am switching to a different streaming service.
