Deezer Android app skips to next track when taking off headphones

Phone: OnePlus 6T
Android version: 9
Headphones: Bowers and Wilkins PX

When I listen to music on Deezer android app and take off my headphones the headset is programmed as to pause the music playing and resume on the next time I put my ears in them. Everything was working fine on older version of Android on another phone (Galaxy Note 4) but now when I take off my headset the APP does one of two things
  1. Stop and on next wear starts to play the NEXT track from the list. Previously the app resumed the track.
  2. Skips the track and continues playing.
As #2 might be caused by the sensors in the headphones the skipping of tracks is really bad.

Tested it with Spotify and some android players and everything works fine: the track resumes. Deezer is the only app that skips tracks.

Hi there, sorry about that. How do you connect your headphones to your phone? With bluetooth? Please include which version of the Deezer app you have installed and which Android version.
Android version is: 9 with security measures from 1st of November this year.
Deezer version:

Yes, I am connecting through bluetooth only.

Hi there, have you tried our troubleshooting already?

  • make sure you're connect to a wifi network
  • uninstall Deezer
  • clean your phone's cache
  • remove the SD card
  • turn off your phone
  • reinstall Deezer
  • open Deezer and download at least one album or playlist
  • reinsert the SD card
Yes, tried that but without the SD card as OnePlus 6T does not have an SD card slot. The problem still remains.

go to the settings > app > increase the smart cache. Also, please check if this is happening with other internet connection too!
Smart cache set to 10 GB. Currently using 500mb.
Checked on WIFI and mobile provider's LTE and the problem persists on both types of connections.

Tried to turn off AUTO STOP (WEAR SENSOR) option in my headphones (take off headphones and music pauses / put back on and music continues) and the problem stopped, the music is playing smoothly. There has to be something wrong with interpreting what the headphones send in Deezer's app - Spotify app did not have this compatibility issue.
