[Bug report] Android App updates ignore storage location

I have Deezer installed and set to run from my SD card to save device space for those apps that refuse to run from external storge. However, every time Deezer updates it ignores the set external storage location and installs the update in internal storage. I then have to move it again.  To be fair Deezer isn't the only app that does this so not checking first isn't uncommon. It is however annoying to have gobs of free space that isn't being used properly.

Deezer should be stored in the memory of your phone only, SD card will cause problems and the app will not work properly…

Would you care to elaborate on this? I've had Deezer running from my SD card for several years now and it works fine (other than the update installer presumably stranding space on the SD card by changing the pointer to the app, which wouldn't happen if the installer didn't move the install point in the first place), it's just annoying that I have to regularly move the app. If the hardware works why should the app installer second-guess where the user chooses to put the app? We're not talking about an iPhone here...

Hello @Rick P., it’s an issue we’ve noticed recently when the app is stored on the SD card. Our teams are aware of it and hopefully will fix it soon. Sorry about the inconvenience :slight_frown:
